Chapter 4 Chapter 4: Aphasic Stroke

1906 Words
The young man was on the brink of tears. His face was as pale as a sheet of paper. "Hey kid, we have been waiting in line for an hour to see the doctor. Don’t even think about cutting the queue!" An unkind middle-aged lady said with dissatisfaction. Vann glanced at the young man, frowned slightly and subconsciously stopped. The young man had dark circles under his eyes. He ran towards Doctor Lee and asked anxiously, "Doctor Lee, do you have any recollection of me?" Doctor Lee didn’t even look at him when he replied, "I have no recollection. I see hundreds and thousands of patients every day. How am I supposed to remember each one? No matter what reasons you are here for, please line up!" Vann’s face twitched. "Doctor Leslie, I am Pill Tang from yesterday! You checked my pulse and prescribed me some medicine. However, after going home and taking the medicine, I started having diarrhea. Moreover, there was blood in my stool just now! Doctor Lee, am I going to die? Please save me!" The young man whose name was Pill exclaimed with a frightened expression. "If it's not an emergency, you should get in line. This is the rule and you can't break it. Also, what did you mean by that? Are you saying that I misdiagnosed you? Or that I prescribed you the wrong medication?" Doctor Lee asked angrily. Pill’s face turned even paler. Vann also frowned deeply. "Don’t just stand there. Go line up now!" Doctor Lee drove him away again. Vann pondered for a moment. Then, he stepped forward and said, "Are you Pill? Show me your prescription." "No problem…" Looking at the teenager who looked younger than himself, Pill felt a little grateful. Whether or not Vann was able to understand the prescription, at least he was willing to help! The fear he felt in his heart was beyond words. There was even blood in his stool. He guessed that it was likely that he had a terminal disease. Vann took the prescription and as he was reading it, he listened to Pill's explanation at the same time. "In the past, I’ve always suffered from insomnia, accompanied by slight twitching, and my head would hurt whenever I wake up in the morning. However, it became more severe recently. Hence, I came to the Drug Fragrance Pavilion to see a doctor." Pill explained. After reading the prescription, Vann grabbed Pill’s hand in a hurry. After a while, his brow furrowed and his heart was filled with anger. He stood at the front gate with his feet slightly bent. Suddenly, he leaped into the air and surprised the people around him. Was this kid even a human? How could a person jump so high? Was this a legendary Master? While they were marveling at him, Vann did something even more unexpected that they could never have foreseen. He leaped up onto the big signboard showing the characters representing the Drug Fragrance Pavilion, grabbed them and landed on the ground. Then, he stomped on them. The signboard was broken into pieces. "The consultation and the prescription are all nonsense! The patient comes to him and yet he doesn’t even listen! Putting the patient's life in danger, how can a doctor practice medicine like this?" Vann said as his face was clothed in anger. Everyone was shocked, including Aurora An. She did not know what to do. Was this guy crazy? He had smashed the signboard of the Immortal Doctor! The Drug Fragrance Pavilion was the largest Chinese Medicine clinic in the Tradicine Province. Besides, the boss of the clinic was Mason, the Immortal Doctor himself. By smashing the signboard, Vann was slandering his reputation. Did he not know what he was doing? "Oh my god, this guy must have lost his mind. He even smashed the Immortal Doctor’s signboard!" One of the bystanders exclaimed. "In my opinion, he must have forgotten to take his medicine before leaving his house and his insanity has resurfaced. Otherwise, why else would he dare to come and make trouble?" Another commented. "Yeah! No matter who he is, he smashed another person’s signboard. He won’t be able to leave just like that!" The bystanders were enraged. Tarnishing someone’s reputation was like killing someone’s wife and child. This would not end well. At that moment, Doctor Leslie’s eyes were wider than a copper bell. Due to his anger, he could almost spit fire. His chest kept rising and falling as he took deep breaths in anger. He stretched out his right arm and slapped his own right cheek, saying, "Am I sleepwalking? Did someone just destroy the Immortal Doctor’s signboard?" Feeling the stinging pain on his face, he jumped up promptly. "You… What have you done? You smashed our signboard!" Doctor Leslie shouted angrily with his finger pointed at Vann. Vann looked at him and asked, "Shouldn’t I smash it?" "Good, very good. Since you are tired of living, don’t blame me for not being polite!" Doctor Lee was extremely angry. However, he smiled in anger and said, "Guards, arrest this arrogant son of a b*tch and beat him up!" Hearing that, the guards of the Drug Fragrance Pavilion suddenly came to their senses. They looked furious, and their gazes were fierce. They surrounded Vann menacingly. "B*stard, I’m going to tear you up single-handedly!" One of the men roared in anger. Watching the oncoming guards, Vann felt no fear. A chill ran through his heart, and he was ready to teach them a lesson. With the skills he had, these guys were not a threat to him at all. It wouldn’t be a problem for him to beat them up. "Stop!" Just as Vann was about to make his first move, an old and powerful voice rang out. The guards of the Drug Fragrance Pavilion halted. Vann glanced towards the direction of the voice and saw a white-haired old man in a gray robe, walking towards him furiously. "Immortal Doctor! Why did the old man himself come out personally?" Everyone was confused. "Huh, he must have startled the old man. It seems that this kid is really in trouble now." "Definitely. Even if he doesn’t die, he’d be skinned alive." Hearing those words, Vann understood that this livid old man was the Immortal Doctor, Mason Hsueh. "Master, why are you here?" Seeing Mason, Doctor Leslie rushed over. "What happened? Were you all going to fight?" Mason frowned and asked. "Master, listen to me. This kid came to buy some silver needles, and he said that he wanted the best silver needles. Hence, I showed him the best silver needles in the shop. However, he said that the silver needles had no spirituality, and thus, he didn’t want them even if we gave them to him. Master, listen, silver needles are silver needles. I don’t think there is any spirituality to them, hence, I sent him away politely. Then, the young man came and said he wanted to see the doctor. Therefore, I asked him to queue up. Later, out of nowhere, the kid who wanted to buy the silver needles came back and smashed the signboard of our Drug Fragrance Pavilion!" Doctor Leslie explained. Mason looked at Vann with a hint of anger and said, "Kid, you'd better give me a good explanation for your actions. Otherwise, you won't be able to walk out of our Drug Fragrance Pavilion today!" Mason indeed had heard that some rare silver needles had spirituality. However, he had never seen them before. Besides, this kid was dressed in rags. At a glance, it seemed like what he said was nonsense. "Immortal Doctor Hsueh, please don’t be mad. It's just a misunderstanding. If I apologize to you on behalf of my friend, could you let him go? He will give his solemn apology another day." Aurora hurriedly stepped forward and said. Mason froze. He looked at Aurora and suddenly realized something. "You are Wilson An’s granddaughter, aren’t you?" "Yes, Wilson is my grandfather. I didn’t expect that you would remember me, Immortal Doctor Hsueh." Aurora felt pleasantly surprised. Mason replied calmly, "Even if you were Wilson’s granddaughter, this cannot be settled with just a few words. Even if Wilson were to come and handle this personally, it still won’t be enough." Hearing this, Aurora felt a chill run through her heart, and sighed deeply. Vann had insulted the Drug Fragrance Pavilion’s reputation. It was a severe accusation. How could they let go of such a severe crime? "We do not intend to settle this matter." Vann said. Aurora’s face darkened. Wasn’t this enough trouble already? Did he have to offend the Master as well? Immortal Doctor Hsueh’s reputation was well known throughout the Tradicine Province. As long as he said a word, everyone in Tradicine Province would believe it. Indeed, no one was immune to death or disease! Although the An family was a very powerful family in the Tradicine Province, it would still be difficult for them to contend against Immortal Doctor Hsueh if he chose to call upon his huge network of connections. Vann’s calm words immediately made Doctor Leslie boil with rage, so much so that he contemplated killing him violently. What an arrogant kid! Did this kid eat the heart of a bear and the guts of a leopard? How could he be so arrogant! Mason was furious, "Boy, do you expect me to praise you and say that you have guts?" "You don’t need to do all that. I would feel ashamed to receive such praise from doctors without medical ethics." Vann retorted defiantly. "You're saying I don't have medical ethics?" Mason pointed at himself and asked. His face was clouded with anger. Vann sneered. He pointed at Pill beside him and said, "This patient was only suffering from insomnia and unable to sleep at night. Besides, he has headaches in the morning. I checked his pulse, and it is a mess. His breathing is very weak as well. I found that there were many blockages in the blood vessels of his neck, which caused a shortage of blood supply to his brain. This was the main reason for his insomnia and headaches. This disease is called Aphasic Stroke. After saying that, Vann took out Pill’s prescription and added, "Look at what your disciple has done. He prescribed him medicine to help him sleep. It's not wrong for him to prescribe sleeping medicine, but he should not have added steroids. After taking this, the disease would be aggravated. He was already bleeding and came here asking for treatment, but your disciple ignored him and told him to line up instead. I ask you, what kind of medical skills do you have? What kind of medical ethics do you have?" Vann was so angry, and he almost roared everything out in a single breath. "Did such a thing happen?" Mason was shocked. He glanced at Doctor Leslie in disbelief. "Is he telling the truth?" "Master, he’s talking nonsense. It’s definitely not true. Pill just has insomnia, that's all!" Doctor Leslie quickly argued. "Humph!" Mason snorted and frowned. He hurried over to Pill's side and felt his pulse. Then, he took a look at Pill's tongue. After that, he rolled his eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. "It’s true that it is indeed an Aphasic Stroke, but there is still a way to cure it." Mason declared.
