"I know what happened." He said to me as lay there on my blood-stained mattress, trying to forget about the pain that was unleashed upon me only a few hours prior. The night seemed to go on far longer than I had ever remembered feeling before. I knew that it was because of the violence inflicted upon me earlier; and now, the king was bringing it back to my remembrance. I didn't want to talk about it and so I decided that I would not even bother to respond to it. "Why didn't you tell me?" He asked as he stepped into the room and closed my door behind him.  I still didn't answer and when I heard his footsteps nearing me my body began to shake upon its own volition. Somehow, I knew that he wouldn't harm me but the sound of his footsteps...they sounded just like his; maybe a little heavier
