Unknown POV:
"Hello, how do you feel?" A melodious voice told me with a tone of concern, and a beautiful face that looked carved out of stone stared back at me intently.
This must be the most handsome male I have ever seen in my life. He was tall and muscular with deep green eyes that seemed to be able to see right through me and his dark silky hair was long enough to fall over his eyes. His square jawline was covered by a shadow of a slight beard. His features were so perfect that I had this urgency to touch his face to find out if I was still out dreaming or if this man was real.
He was still looking at me with intent eyes, waiting for my reply to his question. How did I feel? I wasn't really sure about that. My body still felt a little numb, and I was still kind of groggy. I opened my mouth to speak, but it felt like only air had come out of it. Did I lose my voice? But before I even got worried about this fact, the man talked to me again: "Calm down. I don't think you can speak yet, can you?" The handsome man smiled sympathetically, and then he pressed that same button on the wall behind my head that I felt that female press previously.
A tall figure entered the room and caught my attention just for a few seconds until I turned back to the man who had caught my full attention. There was something about him that I couldn't explain. Being close to him was like flying too close to the sun, but I couldn't get away from him either.
"He's your mate," a voice in my head told me and continued, "That's why you can't get away from him."
"And who would you be?" I asked back in my head. I thought I was alone here.
"Who am I? I'm Athena, you silly. You wolf part, dear," the voice in my head explained to me.
"My what?" I asked, confused.
"Your werewolf part, Kendra. Now listen to me. Everything is fine. This handsome man in front of you is our mate. We trust him. Soon he's going to want to know about us, so you'd better give him all the info about us you can, okay? It'll strengthen our bond."
"Kendra? Is that my name?" I asked, confused.
"Of course, it is, girl. What's going on? Did you happen to lose your memory in the fall?" Athena asked me, confused.
"I…I think so. I remember the fall and all the pain that came later, but I couldn't remember that there was a wolf there with me in my head," I explained to Athena.
Athena snorted and then said to me, "Sharing your head and your body, dear. We are a set."
"You'll need to explain this to me properly," I asked her.
“Sure, but not exactly now,” Athena answered my plea, and went back to paying attention to what was going on outside my head, but deep down inside I felt Athena's worry grow as she reflected on the fact that I wasn't able to remember anything. All those feelings in my head – mine and someone else’s were making me confused.
The tall man approached us and began to examine me. Soon, I felt some pressure on my left arm and then he started to feel me in strategic places. Finally, he shone a light in my eyes, and I tried to move away from the glare, but my movements were too slow to really shield my eyes. Then the tall man turned to the man beside me and said, "She's still slow in her reflexes, Alpha, but despite that, she looks fine." The tall man had a small smile upon his face.
Then Alpha Axel turned to the tall man and asked, "And will this get better over time, Doc?" So, the tall man's name was Doc! This was the other man that was in this room earlier when I couldn’t open my eyes. Now I could recognize his voice.
Doc shrugged and told Alpha, "Gradually. When she arrived there, she was out like a light. Now she is fully awake, and that's already an evolution. We'll have to wait for her improvement now and expect that her wolf will heal her."
“Got it, Doc. Thanks!” Alpha Axel told him, and Doc nodded to his words.
“I will ask someone to bring her some water and food, and later I will check on her again, OK?” Doc told these words to Alpha Axel, but in the end, he turned to me.
Alpha Axel nodded to his words, and Doc left the room. Now, there were just us left alone. Alpha Axel then turned his full attention to me. He seemed… worried about me. He stretched his hand and touched my hair and just by this touch it seemed that my whole body had received an electric current. Athena sighed, satisfied in my head. I, however, was too confused to know how his touch made me feel.
“Hey, don’t make any efforts for now, OK?” Alpha Axel looked at me with sincerity in his green eyes. Those eyes reminded me of the forest, with all the life there was in it. I slightly remember a green flash full of leaves, water streams, birds, and other small creatures as I passed through the trees like a flash. Was I running or flying? I'm not sure. I wasn't even sure if this was a figment of my imagination or if it really had happened. All that I knew was that those green eyes meant that I was finally home, after so long. As if I had lived a thousand years by myself and I finally wasn’t alone anymore. But could that be the truth?
I nodded, still distracted by his features, and then a small knock on the door took his full attention from me. I groaned because I didn’t like it, but he seemed not to notice my dislike. He simply said towards the door: “Come in!” and soon a woman with a tray entered the room. She put the tray on a side desk and came to check on me.
“How are you feeling, dear?” She asked me. I nodded to inform her that I was feeling better because I still couldn’t access my ability to talk. She smiled at me and put a liquid in the tube that was connected to my arm, and then she returned to retrieve the tray. When she moved towards me to give me some water, Alpha Axel held out her hand and told her, "Let me do it." The woman nodded and just warned him, "Small sips, Alpha." He nodded and then she left the room.
Alpha Axel started holding a glass of water to my lips and murmured, "Careful now. You heard the lady. Small sips." I nodded and opened my mouth.
Perhaps what I really needed back at that moment was the water. When I tasted the water, it was as if my throat was dry soil that was hydrated by the rain. I finally could find my voice, or better, a guttural sound came out of my throat. Well, better than before, when nothing came out, I thought to myself.
Alpha Axel seemed to see that as progress, and a small smile came to his lips. “You probably need more water and some food in your system, but it is good to hear your… voice.” He seemed a little amused about that. “Now, be careful. Baby steps, ok?” and then he gave me the water cup again and this time it was easier as if my body was accepting gladly what was offered to it. A few minutes later, he started to offer me some food. It wasn’t solid, though. But still, it was good, and that was what my body needed at that moment.
Finally, when I was feeling full and Alpha Axel seemed satisfied with the amount of food and water that I managed to put in my body, he started talking to me again.
“So, do you think you can talk now?” he asked me once again, looking into my very soul.
I nodded and slowly said: “Y…Yes.” That was all that I could manage for now.
“Right. Do you know your name?” He asked me with an intent expression.
“Ke… Kendra,” I told him.
He smiled, content with my small progress, and continued: “Hi Kendra, I’m Axel Wyatt… Kendra what? If you don’t mind me asking,” He asked me once again.
I shrugged and shook my head. I really didn't even know if I had a name after Kendra. I only knew it was Kendra because of Athena.
He looked a little frustrated, but hid this feeling quickly, and asked one more question: “Do you know where you are, Kendra?”
I shook my head once again, but this time he didn’t seem frustrated: “Now, this is a question that I’m able to answer you. This is the Crescent Pack, Kendra. We are close to the New England area, but since you’re not from the pack, I cannot tell you exactly where we are.”
I nodded to show him that I understood what he said, although, I could not exactly locate myself. New England? Where is this place? I believe that it is on Earth, but...
“Do you remember how you ended up in the middle of the forest, Kendra?” He asked me once again, interrupting my train of thought.
“I… there was an explosion… and I fell from somewhere too high and… lost consciousness,” I told him slowly. That was all that I could manage for now.
“Okay, I’m going to call Doc once again, OK?” Alpha Axel told me, and I nodded once again.
He pressed that button behind my head and a few instants later, Doc was back in the room. He had a small smile on his face as if trying to tell me that everything was going to be alright.
“So, I see that our patient is awake, has eaten and drunk her water. That’s good!” Doc said, looking at me. I nodded once again.
“Yep, Doc. That was easy. Her name is Kendra, by the way,” Alpha Axel told him, and then, before Doc could say anything else, Alpha Axel continued: “I guess that she lost her memory, Doc. She doesn’t remember her last name or how she ended up here properly, although she remembers her fall.”
Doc nodded and started to check on me once again. After a couple of minutes doing that, he looked at us once again and told us:
“I need to run a few tests to check on her brain activity and other vitals, Alpha. It will take the rest of the day, but I believe that if her vitals are okay, she can be discharged by tomorrow.”
Wait a minute… Where will I go after here? I started to worry about it, but Alpha Axel just turned to me and told me: “That’s a good thing, right? It means you are doing good.” He then held my hand and that small electrical current started tingling where he touched me. I gasped, and Alpha Axel gulped several times.
Nobody said a thing for a few minutes, but then Doc broke the silence, and told us: “Would you rather stay here for the tests, Alpha?”
Alpha Axel shook his head and murmured: “I have a few businesses to check on, so I can’t stay,” I tried to hide my disappointment. I didn’t know why, but being separated from Alpha Axel kind of made me feel sad and lonely. “But I will be back later, I promise,” Alpha Wyatt said those last words, looking intently at me, and I let out a breath, which I didn't even know I was holding. I nodded and then he muttered, "excuse me."
The moment he closed the door, Doc happily turned to me and said, "So, Kendra. Nice to meet you. I'm Doctor Waltz, the doctor of this pack. Shall we begin?"
