PREFACE
WHAT IS OMEGAVERSE
*also known as A/B/O (an abbreviation for "alpha/beta/omega"), is a subgenre of speculative erotic fiction, and originally a subgenre of erotic s***h fan fiction. Stories in the genre are premised on societies wherein humans are divided into a dominance hierarchy of dominant "alphas", neutral "betas", and submissive "omegas". These terms are derived from those used in ethology to describe social hierarchies in animals.
ALPHAS
*are the more aggressive ones out of everyone. They are the larger and stronger ones, the dominate ones in bed. They are the males or females pumped full of testosterone. The females would differently from the males though. While the males already have a p***s, females don't. Everything is different for the Alpha females. They have a small chance of getting pregnant at all, but they can impregnate. Where the female's c******s is, once she gets aroused, a retractable p***s is there instead. Since she has a very small chance of actually conceiving a child, her womb would be smaller or not even there at all. In some verses, she does go through some stages in pregnancy to help her Omega. The hormones the Omega releases help the Alpha. The female Alphas already small breasts would grow so she could help feed the newborn child. For males, it is a bit different. Alpha males can't have their breasts grow like the females, but they still help their Omega out. In almost all of the verses, there is a lot of semen being released. Some verses have knotting, which basically means the Alpha's p***s enlarges at the base to lock inside the Omega, giving them a better chance at breeding and producing offspring. All Alphas have larger p*****s and are the ones to fight over an Omega.
BETAS
*are the normal, everyday guy. They can still breed with other Betas, but they cannot breed with Omegas or get them pregnant. With a female and male Beta, they can reproduce that way. Sometimes even a female Alpha and a female Beta would be able to reproduce.
OMEGAS
*are the softer and more gentle of these roles. They are the nurturing parents who raise their children and they are the only ones in here who can get pregnant besides Beta females. The female Omegas use their systems as normal, getting pregnant that way and then nurturing the child like they should. But for the males, it is very different. All Omegas go through heats, it all depends on the author how often they go into heats. During this time, they are most fertile. But the pre-heat is what the males have to go through. Since they only have one hole, their rectum, that is also doubling as protection for the female parts. During pre-heat, the parts start to grow after they empty their rectum completely. The reason they do it is so nothing gets stuck in the uterus. But Omegas are the smaller ones with less muscle and smaller p*****s if they are male. They love to take care of children and all that parenting stuff.
PHEROMONES
*Also known as blood markers, all humans carry pheromones within their glandular system that alerts others of their dynamic, their bond status, and in the case of Omegas if they are close to a Heat.
In real science they are “a secreted or excreted chemical factor that triggers a social response in members of the same species”. Several natural reactions can increase a person’s blood markers, regardless of their dynamic:
- When near a bonded partner, a mate or their offspring
- When feeling threatened or while defending home territory
- When aroused
In Alphas, these blood markers spike when in close proximity to an Omega nearing a heat and when agitated or in a stressed state; in Omegas these blood markers spike when nearing the apex of their heat cycle and when threatened as an evolutionary fear response; in Betas, these blood marker levels usually run at a regular baseline.
PRE-HEAT
*Three to five days before heat begins, Omegas will go into what is known as pre-heat. During this time, they will have the urge to start to nest. Nesting is generally making up a small, comfortable place to ride out a heat. The area will be filled with blankets, pillows, and things that remind the Omega of their Alpha (if they have one). Oftentimes, Omegas also find themselves being extremely hungry during pre-heat, as their bodies are trying to compensate for when heat itself hits and the Omega has little care for eating or drinking. Omegas may sleep more during a pre-heat to conserve the energy they will need for their heat, and often find themselves overheating mildly, especially while asleep. Pre-heat ends when the Omega goes fully into heat.
HEAT
*When pre-heat ends, the Omega goes immediately into heat. Heat lasts from 4-7 days, and begins with fever, mild cramping, increased slick, and increased pheromone production. The increased pheromones are biology's way of luring mates, and it signals to any Alphas in the area that the Omega is fertile. Betas may also feel the pull to breed with an Omega in heat, but the draw on them is far less than it is on Alphas. As heat really gets going, slick production ramps up even further. The desire to mate becomes anywhere from a low-grade need that is easy to brush off to a desire that, if not relieved in some way, can become almost entirely debilitating. Unmated Omegas have many options to get relief, including asking a friend to be their heat partner (always set up before a full heat, as the Omega's judgement may be a bit skewed if they are in pain or uncomfortable), using toys (generally while m**********g), using an Alpha service, using an Alpha's scent, or any combination of the above. It is generally agreed that toys and m**********n are the least fulfilling of the options, but it can take away enough of the immediacy to allow the Omega to function. Some unmated Omegas may lock themselves into their room or nest voluntarily to stop themselves from trying to convince others to help them through heat. There are medications that can help to extend the time between heats, or even stop them altogether. Suppressants are an option that many Omegas use. Modern suppressants are safe and generally effective, but constant use can have unwanted side effects. Some Omegas have used the wrong medication (street or non-regulated versions) and have rendered themselves infertile. Taking full suppressants for a long period leaves an Omega who comes off of them with the very real possibility of having a heat that is much more intense than they had before the suppressants. Mini-pills, as they are generally referred to, stop a full heat, but leave the Omega with small heats (also known as pseudo-heats) in their stead. Mini-pills are generally considered safe to take for up to six months at a time, with a one month break in between to allow the Omega's body a chance to have one full heat. Studies have shown that this treatment is safe and effective for up to three years, and then the pills must be changed or discontinued.
Heats tend to go in waves. Once an Omega has gotten some relief, the heat tends to "back down" for a while. This time is the perfect time to get something light and easy to eat down, and to drink as much water as possible. It's also the perfect time for naps! The cycle continues over the 4-7 days, though the last day tends to be the least intense.
RUT
*is the overwhelming need to breed. Alphas generally go into rut every three months, though with a bonded Omega mate, their ruts may align with their Omega partner's heats. Ruts tend to make Alphas more aggressive toward any other Alphas who might come near their Omega/bond-mate. Most Alphas get very overprotective of Omegas they think of as in their care as the rut takes hold. They are generally much more sexually active during a rut, since the biological drive to breed is what is guiding them. An Alpha can have a much easier time being alone during a rut than an Omega in heat. There are amazing s*x toys on the market of every size and shape, and artificial slick to be used. As long as they orgasm and knot, it will help to bring the rut down in intensity. Of course, most Alphas would prefer the real thing, but if it's not available there is the option.
SUPRESSANTS
*Drugs or chemicals that prevent heat activity, mask the a/b/o status of an individual and generally speaking, shut that down. An omega on suppressants will not go into heat. If the suppressants do not entirely prevent the heat process, they dull urgency and desire to mate. Most commonly an omega is the one on suppressants. The suppressants may have a birth control aspect, either by preventing heats, or by acting in a manner similar to birth control pills. A suppressant is any chemical that alters one’s active blood markers, but are most commonly used by Omegas to alter their scent into that of a Beta or Alpha. Omegas also use suppressants to control outward symptoms of their heat cycles, and while prolonged use is highly inadvisable a regular suppressant regimen can successfully contain an Omega’s heats and allow them to function at full capacity at any point during their cycle. For omegas in the military, serving as secret agents, or in space as astronauts, or working in another tightly controlled environment, suppressants are often mandatory.
NEST
*A nest usually a place when an omega can be comfortable, whether if he/she is in heat or just having a bad day. It can be a closet or a couch, a small room or a bed. It will usually be filled with soft things ,the most smelling like his/her mate if they hve one.It usually make them feel comfortable in all times, evwn if they feel theybarenabout to murder someone. With omegas being small fragile creatures they are,it can help them rest. As they closer to their delivery date ,they will most likely spend more and more time in their nest with their Alpha.
FATED PAIRS
*a Fated Pair is an alpha/omega couple who are destined to be together. Fated pairs develop a deep emotional and s****l connection to each other, and in many cases will sense each other immediately when they first meet by the scent of their pheromones. Fated pairs who have known each other since childhood may be instinctively aware that they are destined mates, or they might realize it later on when they hit puberty. Resistance to bonding with one's destined mate can sometimes cause omegas to experience irregular heats and alphas to experience intense ruts.
