Vienna sat in the courtyard, having finished her lunch. Her mind kept going to Liam's offer of joining him for dinner. Before everything else, she would have jumped at a chance to go out with him. He was very handsome, polite, and every time he smiled at her, she really felt beautiful. Since she had been raising her sisters, she had found that most guys used to run off when they would find out that she was raising four girls. They would seem it okay if she had a sister, but four of them...well, it scared them away completely and for those that did not run away, Vienna had noticed, they thought she should be grateful, and that she could be easily manipulated.
"Hey there, day-dreamer." Startled Vienna looked up and smiled to see her dear friend Isabel. She had worn a tight green top with a low scoop neck that emphasized her generous breast and drew attention to her sparkling green eyes. Her long, golden hair was pulled back in a tight ponytail. Her jeans were a pair of a low waist that clung to her hips. She could have been a model with her natural beauty but chose instead to become a freelance journalist.
"What are you doing here?" Vienna asked as she got up and hugged her tightly.
Isabel sat next to her on the bench and reached into her purse, pulling out a candy bar. "I missed you, Vienna, so I thought I would stop by during your break and thought of getting you some dessert."
Smiling, Vienna opened it. "Oh, see, I knew there was a reason that you are my favorite."
Anabel pulled out another bar, grinning. "And here I thought it was my dazzling personality that made us such good friends."
Swallowing a bite, Vienna winked. "Well, that is a close second, but you bringing candy for me during the day, has to be number one, of course."
"What have you been up to?" Vienna asked Isabel.
"I met a new guy," Isabel answered cheerfully. "We have also gone out a few times, and he seems very nice. Plus he is very sexy. It is really fun to watch girls stop and stare when he walks by."
"So you finally found yourself some eye candy, isn't it?" Vienna asked her.
"Yep. You could say that." Isabel turned to look at Vienna. "So what about you, have you met anyone interesting lately?" Isabel then laughed at seeing Vienna's red cheeks. "Oh, you have, who? Tell me all about him!"
Vienna blushed all the more. "It is nothing serious, I..." Biting her lower lip, she smiled, "Well, we just met. I do not think anything is going to happen."
Isabel smiled. "Well, with you blushing like that, he should be really something."
"He seems a nice person. I have just seen him around. We have not been on a date or anything," Vienna replied.
"Well you better get on it, if he has got your attention, then I am sure he must be something special and my dear Vienna, you surely deserve someone special," Isabel said.
Viena glanced at her phone. "s**t, I have to get back to work."
Isabel stood up with her and hugged her.
"I am so glad you came by though. I have missed you," Vienna said to Isabel.
Isabel sighed. "I am sorry when I finish this article I am working on, I promise we shall all have dinner, together, right?"
"Sounds like a plan, thanks for the candy bar," Vienna said. She hugged Isabel one more time before heading back to work. One of the other assistants had taken her place instead of Rhea. This one being new, she looked annoyed and left the desk before Vienna even got to it. Vienna fought the urge to roll her eyes. **************
Liam found himself smiling, watching Vienna with her friend Isabel. He took a picture of the two of them together. His dragon senses came up to the surface as they talked. He loved the way Vienna blushed when her friend asked her if she had met anyone. He frowned, a growl escaping his throat when Vienna had said it was nothing serious.
It was not serious, of course, she was just one of the girls he was sent to protect and to bring to their side. They had just met, but he did not like how she brushed him off as if he was just another man hitting on her. Liam was anything other than just another man. Vienna would learn that quickly enough.
It was obvious to Liam that he would need to find a way to get close to her. He had never thought of himself as vain; women were just drawn to him. He knew most people thought he was handsome, and considered him charming. He had never faced problems before, and he found he did not like being dismissed. Whether it was his own vanity or pride, he hated the fact that she still had not even called him.
Tapping his fingers on his steering wheel, he started to think about how he was going to get Vienna to spend more time with him. Smiling, he got out of the car. He was going to fix that problem very soon so that Vienna did not have any choice left with her. *************
Vienna walked to the car, happy to be done with her day. Taking out her keys, she sighed when she noticed that the front driver's side tire was flat. Swearing softly, she pulled out her phone and looked up for a tow truck. Finding one, she dialed the number, telling the driver what was wrong and where to find her. Hanging up, she leaned against her car, texting Zara, telling her she would be late, but she would try her best, to be home as soon as she could.
Hearing a voice behind her, she turned around and saw Liam on his phone. When Liam spotted her, he told the person on the phone he would call back later. "Hey, I was going to swing by your work and see if you had decided to have dinner with me." Liam's voice trailed off when he noticed her car tire. "What happened?" he asked.
Biting her lip, Vienna said, "I don't know, I am thinking I ran over a nail or something."
"Do you need help changing it?" Liam asked her.
"No, I just called for a tow truck. I figured they would take it and have the tire changed for me," Vienna replied.
Liam ran his fingers through his hair. "Why don't I wait for you and give you a ride home?" he asked Vienna.
Shaking her head, Vienna just blushed. "No, that is okay, the tow truck is going to take about fifteen minutes or so to reach here. After that, I will just take a cab home."
Liam grinned at her. "It will not be a problem, I assure you. Also, my mother raised me not to leave a girl stranded."
Laughing, Vienna sighed. "Thanks. I would really appreciate a ride home."
He nodded his head, grinning. "It will be my pleasure, Vienna." Looking around, he pointed at the juice stand. "How about a smoothie while we wait?"
