Liam stepped closer to her and reached up to touch her cheek, dropping his hand when she seemed to flinch before he could touch her. "I am here because I wanted to make sure you are safe," he replied.
Vienna puffed at Liam and he could not help but smile at the unfeminine sound. "That is not what I meant and you know it."
She pushed her hair back from her face and looked up at him, her voice lowering to almost a whisper. "Why did you kiss me? Was it just to get close to me?" Vienna asked him.
Liam saw a flash of hurt in her eyes and he stepped in front of her, cupping her cheek, making sure she looked at him when he answered, " I kissed you because there was no way I could be near you and not kiss you," he said.
