Chapter 3: Hospital

1078 Words
RAIENNE'S POV The dizzying feeling consumed me when I opened my eyes and everything is blurry. Where am I? It was not long when my vision became vivid so I roamed my eyes around and realized where I am. "Hospital?" Why am I here? Shouldn't I supposed to be dead? Realization hit me when I felt a slight pain on my right shoulder. Oh wait.... I was shot! I lost consciousness and fell into the ground but now I'm awake which means I'm still alive! Oh God, thank you! But how about Rosa and the other kids, are they safe? What happened to them after I passed out? where are they now? God please make them safe. "Why would people ask question when they obviously know the answer? Anyways, it's not so good to see you alive again, Ms. Angel or whatever your last name is." I know him! He was with the man who tried to kill Rosa! Were they fighting back then? They were holding a gun, a real one and it was too dangerous! He even told the other man to pull the trigger! I stared at him again but he's too cold and I don't like his aura, it scares me. He seems calm but dangerous. "Uhhh, I'm not Angel. T-those kids call me Angel but that's not my name. It's...." he cuts me off. "I don't really give a f**k about you and your name. The bill has been settled, you don't need to pay it," he said coldly while walking towards the door. He paid the bill? But why? "I'm sorry but can you not cuss? It's bad but..." I was about to say thank you but the door flew wide open and there I saw Fr. Lucas and Mother Ofelia's worried face. "Raienne dear child, the church is worried sick of you! Thank goodness you safe!" Mother Ofelia's worried face made me shed tears as I remember the fear I felt a while a back. I was so horrified! "Don't cry dear child, God is with you. He showed you mercy and gave you a second chance to live. Let's give thanks to God," Fr. Lucas said as he held my hands and brushed my tears away. "Fr. Lucas, Mother Ofelia I don't know what to do without you!" They are my family who care deeply for me. They really love me dearly and treated me as a real family. Fr. Lucas and Mother Ofelia are siblings and they dedicated their lives as God's servant since their parents died when they were In their 20's. As of now Fr. Lucas is 45 and Mother Ofelia is in her early 40's. "Oh hell. f*****g spare me with your family drama and let me out from this room," the man with a cold voice and dangerous aura commented. Fr. Lucas faced him and he'll surely scold this man for cussing. "Son, cussing is a sin. Please, you need to ask forgiveness to our Almighty Father." "I f*****g need to f*****g what?" Now this man looks irritated upon hearing Fr. Lucas' sermon. "Ask for forgiveness and please stop cussing, son. It'll not do you any good. We're here to say thank you for saving Raiene's life. May God bless you, son. I'm Fr. Lucas," Fr. Lucas offered his hand for a shake hand but the man just blankly stared at him. "I don't do shake hands most especially with people holding that thing." Is he referring to the holy rosary? "Son, this is The Holy Rosary of the Virgin Mary and I carry it with me every time," Fr. Lucas explained with his usual gentle voice. "I won't take your hand. That rosary thing will f*****g burn me up" and with that, the man stormed out. I saw Fr. Lucas closed his eyes to calm himself while Mother Ofelia did the sign of the cross as if she was set out from a dangerous situation. "Thanks goodness! That young man went out already. His aura and his voice are scary," Mother Ofelia said after exhaling like she's been suppressing her breath for a long time. "Ofelia, that child needs the aid of God. I can feel the emptiness inside him, he needs someone to bring light into his life" Fr. Lucas muttered worriedly. He always cares for everyone. Not long after the cold man walked out, an old man together with a nurse entered the room. He must be the doctor I guess since he's wearing a doctor's robe. "Excuse me, Fr. Lucas, I'm Dr. Marshall and I was the one who performed surgery one her. So far there's no serious injury or any internal bleeding. I can say she's safe for now but the patient must be observed for few days. She needs to rest here for a week, Fr. Lucas." "Thanks God. Thank you, Dr. Marshall for your good deed," Fr. Lucas thanked him. It's a good thing that I'm safe, at least for now. "It's our job to keep our patients safe, Fr. Lucas but now we just need to check on her for few minutes," the doctor replied. "Oh, we wouldn't mind. Please do it Dr. Marshall," said Fr. Lucas. One week in the hospital wasn't sad and boring because the kids kept on visiting me every day. Rosa and the other kids cried upon seeing me but they were fine after few minutes. They also told me how the cold man carried me from the ground and brought me to the hospital himself. They even told me that he killed the other man who shot me but he was so hesitant whether to help me or let me die. But then, he eventually carried me into his expensive car. He also paid my bill and Fr. Lucas supposed to return his money but we don't have any information about that man. As a result Mother Ofelia insisted on praying for the aid of that man and the whole Catholic Organization in Montserrat also did the same thing. I kept on thinking that he killed a man but he helped me, is he a bad one? The man who I thought as cold as ice isn't that cold after all. He saved my life and I must pray for him starting now. I would pray that God will forgive him for what he did and that he will someday be redeemed. "Yes. I should do that."
