Chapter Three

1039 Words
“You’re breaking up with me?” Kamilla said in complete shock as Kiedan stood beside her locker at school the next day. He pushed his hair back and sighed, as big ugly tears started rolling down her cheeks. “Haven’t I been good to you?” She said as she sobbed. Keidan didn’t really know what to say at this point. “It’s nothing to do with you, or whether you’re a good girlfriend. I told you, I have a destined mate, and I can’t carry on with you, because I have to concentrate on convincing her to accept the bond.” “Who is she! I’ll prove I’m better than her.” Kamilla said stubbornly. “It’s none of your business and if you try to hurt her, you won’t like me.” Keidan warned with a deep growl. Then he stopped talking all together, staring like a lovesick puppy, as he watched Riley walk by. Her dark hair was pulled up into a long French braid, she was dressed in a dark long sleeved shirt, a dark denim miniskirt and tights. Her feet were covered by a pair of converse shoes, she was wearing just a hint of makeup and she smelled sweet. He assumed it was the perfume she was wearing, but really all he wanted was to bury himself in that sickening sweet scent. She was absolutely beautiful. “Are you f*****g kidding me?! The reject? I’ll kill her!” Keidan growled again. “I’m warning you. Touch her and I’ll make your life hell.” He warned through a set of clenched teeth. “Keidan…” Kamilla said with more tears threatening to spill over her eyes. Keidan didn’t want to talk anymore. He walked away to follow Riley to her locker. “You look pretty today. Let me carry your books for you.” Smooth. Artemis chuckled in his head. Riley looked at him dumbfounded. “What about Kamilla?” She asked shortly. “I broke up with her.” Keidan answered as he looked Riley up and down. She collected her books and slammed the locker closed. “I didn’t tell you to do that. I also never agreed to be with you.” Riley said and walked towards her first class. Keidan could do little but stare after her. Artemis was laughing in his head. Keidan was completely dumbfounded by this. She ran off without really saying anything to him. Mate is punishing us! Artemis said, amused. Keidan sighed. Why? We have allowed Kamilla’s cruelty to mate. She is going to fight, but we must claim her! Keidan sighed again. How? We make her understand that she is ours! Mate can only resist so long. Take her, claim her… mark her and she’ll know that we are serious! Keidan shook his head. No, she’ll hate us. She already loves us, she just doesn’t know it. Riley sat through her first class and sighed to herself. Was I too hard on him? She wondered. Mate will forgive us. Once he proves his loyalty, we will let him claim us. The mate bond is stronger for destined mates. He can never hate you. Namira said softly. That girl, Kamilla. She doesn’t know that we are one, and she will try to make trouble. Riley agreed with that. She knew Kamilla too well to think that she would let this go. She wouldn’t tell her that she got her wolf, she aimed to surprise her, during the next attempted beating. At lunch, Keidan insisted on sitting with Riley at her table. His three friends would join. She disliked them before, knowing that they thought she was just some wolfless human girl. “Seriously, Riley? Isn’t she missing something to be one of us.” Keidan didn’t miss a beat. “Not anymore. She made her arrival last night and she’s not only beautiful, but very strong.” The boys looked at each other and the blonde, Jasper was the first to speak up. “Look, I’m sorry for the way we acted before. We just thought what everyone else did. That you were human, I don’t know.” Riley picked at her food as they spoke. She didn’t really know what to say and let out a long sigh. “I understand that it’s wolf nature to pick on the weakest links, humans are seen as weak, and since at the time I fit that description. I won’t hold it against you, but if you step out of line again, I’ll tear your arms off.” Riley said as she stuffed a chip into her mouth. Jasper and Brent stared at each other and burst into laughter. “Keidan! This girl is so mean!” Keidan chuckled. Riley didn’t look like someone so cruel, but she definitely looked like she’d turn into a lion, when cornered. Riley finished up with her food and set the empty tray on the appropriate counter. She turned and headed off to class without another word. Kamilla had been sitting with her friends at a different table, watching them. She didn’t understand what was so special about Riley for her to have the things that she wanted. Her blood was boiling with hatred, and jealously. Her wolf was bloodthirsty and honestly didn’t care that Keidan wasn’t their true mate. She was feeding off of Kamilla’s anger. We need to teach her a lesson. After school it was the same as usual, the gang of over privileged girls stalked Riley. “Hey! Come back and face me, you skank!” Kamilla yelled, as Riley took off out of the school. Only this time, she stopped outside of school grounds and turned to look at them with a cold gaze. “What do you want?” She asked as she turned to look at her with a set of green eyes that were now starting to glow. “Oh s**t!” Veronica said slowly. “She’s got her wolf powers.” “I don’t care! It’s three against one! You can’t take us all!” Kamilla said as the trio slowly circled her. Riley clenched her fists and smiled back at them. “Fine, give me your best shot.”
