Ch.6 I'm Not Going Anywhere

1110 Words
Emery She was on me. I couldn't escape her scent, and if I push her away, we will move ten steps backward. "Put your arm around her, kiss her, something." Damon huffs inside my head, pacing around like a crazy person. I gaze over at her, her eyes are affixed to the television, falling closed every now and then, It was easy to see she was tired. Eventually her eyes closed and didn't open back up. I gently move her to a horizontal position, her head resting on my lap. My hand finds her waist and I turn my attention back to the television. "Alpha, Are you coming back to the pack house this evening...or??" Jaspers voice bounces around in my skull, disturbing my peace. My eyes fall to Gin in my lap, sleeping peacefully. "If I will be back it will be late, don't wait up for me." I push her hair behind her ear and replace my palm on the flesh of her side enjoying the warmth of her supple skin against mine. After two hours I gingerly shake Gin's shoulder, watching as her jade irises squint in the warm lighting of the room. it's difficult to keep from showing my disappointment as she rises from my lap and sits upright rubbing her eyes. "Did you get a good rest Gin?" I keep my voice soft as her lips part and an adorable yawn escapes. She nods languidly and perches herself against the back of the couch. "I'm sorry, I didn't sleep too well last night." Before thinking I put my hand on her thigh, giving it a light squeeze. My eyes follow my actions regretting them as they happen. I meet her sleepy gaze to see it doesn't seem to bother her all that much. I take a silent breath of relief and leave my hand there, basking in the sparks jetting through my arm from the touch I garner. "It's about 5:30, Did you want to order dinner?" As her body slightly turns and her now full viridian gaze lands on me I feel my heart rate accelerate. The need to lean forward and kiss her, grows mercilessly in my chest, fighting behind my ribcage. "That sounds good, how do you feel about some pizza?' Her voice is still groggy with sleep, and the words exit her mouth without strong edges. I pull my eyes from hers to temper the need building in me. Unknowingly tightening my grasp on her leg. "Pizzas fine, what toppings?" She doesn't reply, she just peers at me, confusion lining her features. "You afraid my leg is gonna detach and run away, you don't need to death grip it Emery, I can assure you it's staying put." I loosen my grip and thankfully she still doesn't move to pull my hand away. "Pepperoni?" I chuckle lightly as her face scrunches up and nose up turns. "I'll take bacon and mushrooms if that's okay." I nod, dialing the number in my phone with my free hand. "Odd, choice but that's fine." I quickly place the order and pay with my card, including tip. I slip my phone back into my pocket, and jump slightly as Damon releases quiet low growls inside my head. "Now what you nuisance." I let Damon train my eyes downward to the rising hem of Gin's crop top, as she stretches up arms up into the air. My brows furrow and my hand leaves her leg to allow my fingers to trail the large silvery scar lining her ribs. He first instinct is to recoil at my touch but she stops herself and instead hurried pulls down her shirt to its original resting place. "What happened"? My voice exits my lips more like a demand than a question, the tone difference clearly registers on Gin's features. She scrunches her eyes and a tinge of red houses her cheeks as I roll up the side of her shirt to see the extent. The silvery scar curves all the way around her ribs. I genuinely don't know how she survived this. The rigidness of the knotted flesh leads to believe this was immensely deep upon receiving. "Gin, I won't ask again. What happened?" My words didn't hold any room for further questions or refusal. It was a car accident. I was very young, about seven I think. It was a year before I lost my family. My dad was drunk picking me up from school and he ran us into a cement truck. I died on the table twice, it's not something I like to remember. She pulls her shirt from my grasp and recovers the memory. I stand from the couch and walk into the bathroom in the bedroom closing the door behind me. I look in the mirror to see Damon's tell tale ring of maroon seeping in from the edges of my irises. "The man is dead Damon, there is no need for you to get up in arms about this, settle!" "NO REASON. SHES OUR MATE!" "I'm perfectly aware of that but what are you going to do walk out the door and hunt down the car if it even still exists. No, now just breathe, I'm not going back out there unless your presence once again becomes invisible. She's far from ready for that conversation." Damon huffs in my head and pulls back to his corner as my eyes return to their pale ocean blue. I turn on the faucet for a moment and then return to Gin's side who already has the pizza boxes in hand. A slight look of sadness staining her features. I take my pizza from her and my eyes land on her delicate facial features. "What's wrong Gin?" She sets her pizza beside her and her eyes lock onto mine, a singular tear pushing forward. "You don't want me anymore, because I'm damaged goods. I've seen it before." She drops the keys on the coffee table and stands to move to the door. In a panic I throw down my pizza. I stand and carefully but quickly pin her to wall, meeting my lips to hers. To my surprise she makes no move to halt my actions, no shoving or hitting. Her arms land around my neck and her fingers curl into the neck of my shirt. my hands curve around her waist and pull her flush against me. Her scent engulfs me in seconds, making it all the harder as I gently pull away and lead her back to the couch. “I'm not going anywhere Gin, It will take far more than that to scare me off.”
