"Aves, are we gonna stay here forever?" Liam asks as I gently comb through his wet hair. What am I supposed to say? I can't say yes because what if Colton and I don't work out? Can 'soul mates' not work out? "I don't know, kid. One day at a time remember?" he nods his head as I bend down to pick him up. I lay him in his new bed and tuck the blanket around him. "There. Snug as a bug in a rug. Goodnight." I kiss his forehead before turning the light out and shutting the door quietly behind me. I walk to the room I share with Colton, thinking he might be in there.
