Kyle follows Gardner slowly down to the kitchen. He is hungry, too, but he still can’t copy Gardner’s sudden high spirit this morning. His heart fights to calm down after beating so fast when he learned they’d spent the night together. Right now he’s filled with shame for having lied to Gardner. It wasn’t Antonio he was worried about just now. It was himself. “Coffee?” Gardner lifts the pot when Kyle reaches the door and pours a cup as he nods. Kyle sips, then practically gulps the entire cup. “Wow, you make kick-ass coffee.” Gardner beams. “Yeah? You like it?” “Sure.” Kyle takes a place at the bar table, careful not to look at Gardner. He keeps reminding himself that they have nothing real together. This is all just Antonio’s wicked way to torment him. It’s only seven days, for God’
