Benjamin was there to welcome Serena in her own flat. Finding him there came off as a pleasant surprise to her. She didn’t know whether to start crying and wailing or keep it all in and smile. Something in her expression must have given her away. “Let it out,” Benjamin told her with a softness that undid her. The dam broke and she found herself flinging herself at him as tears overcame her. He kept caressing her back - giving her the silent support she most needed - but wasn’t foolish enough to tell her sweet and reassuring nothings.
