CHAPTER EIGHTEEN Jessie was pretty sure she was going to throw up. By the time they reached Lacy’s apartment, she had catnapped in the car and felt no more coherent than when they’d left the hospital. She also felt nauseated. They were just pulling into a parking space when she opened the passenger door and leaned out. But nothing happened. “False alarm,” she said, unbuckling herself and gingerly stepping out of the vehicle. Lacy came around and offered a supportive arm as they made their way to the elevator. “Do you still feel out of it?” she asked. “Yes,” Jessie said. “I’m still waiting for that part the nurse mentioned where I’ll go from loopy to numb. Plus, I think I feel sick because I took that medication without having eaten in hours. I need to get something in my stomach.” “
