It's difficult to write about New York without resorting to cliché movie locations, but in the Cloisters, I found a little slice of medieval England.
The chapters about the Cloisters are based on The Cloisters Cross: Its Art and Meaning, and A Walk through the Cloisters. Both publications are available from the Met in free PDF format here. The Cloisters Cross is as described except for the Enochian script, which is actually considered to be Hebrew written backwards.
