-Connor POV-
Not even a minute passes of us sitting in the cafeteria before Garnet slams his hand on our table, shouting. “Da! Hell! Amy!” Garnet stares her down. “You can use your powers to try to burn the school down but you won't help me with this!” Garnet points to his face still in his male form.
Amy sighs. “I didn’t want to burn anything and It’s not that I won’t help you with your problem, it’s that I can’t.”
'She is annoying.' Thoth says.
We are both annoyed. I thought that I would have a little time with Amy alone but no. Here comes Garnet making it all about her again... him.
Garnet crosses his arms and gives Amy a side-glance. “So you say.”
“Leave her alone, Garnet.” I say.
Garnet looks at me and squints his eyes. “Don’t you have a wife to tend to?”
“A wife-…” Now I squint my eyes at him. “Shut up.”
Garnet laughs.
“Hey, are you okay?” Tinsley asks as she and Leon walk over to us.
“Oh, yeah.” Amy says.
“Hey, I heard about that.” Cole says also sitting next to us. “Miss fire starter here has the first-year students scared shitless.” He says and laughs, finding it amusing.
Amy stares down, looking embarrassed.
“Was Marco angry?” Tinsley asks.
“You know, surprisingly, he wasn't. I think he is getting used to all of the madness.” I say.
“Or maybe it’s because he is too distracted with Charlotte these days.” Leon says.
“Don’t say that name!” Garnet almost shouts, shushing us.
“What? Why?”
“Because it’s like that saying. If you mention the devil, he will come. Well... she who must not be named is the devil.”
We all laugh because we can see how serious he is about it.
“You all bunch of a-holes. You all laugh but look.” Garnet points towards the door where Charlotte walks in and we all laugh even harder now.
“I hate you all!” Garnet gets up and runs out through the other door before Charlotte can see him.
As annoying as he is, he is always good for a laugh though it’s usually at our expense.
"Hey, how about you two come to our room to watch a movie after classes are done." Tinsley says.
Garnet and Cole are going to be there.
Leon groans. "Why did you have to invite them? Especially Cole."
Cole stares at him with squinted eyes wanting to say something but doesn't
Tinsley smiles. "Because they are our friends."
"He's not my friend." Leon mumbles.
"Correct on that, asshat." Cole mumbles back.
Tinsley ignores them. "Come on Amy. We haven't seen you all summer and you didn't get to the party with us yesterday." She tries to convince Amy.
Amy nods. "Okay, I'll come."
"Yay." Tinsley cheers.
After lunch and all the laughs, Amy and I head up to my room like we had agreed before but as we walk, we stumble on Abigail.
She has a big smile when she sees us and I know it’s all about something she did. That’s her “no good, up to something, troubles making” smile.
“Isn't your room on the other side of the school?” I ask.
“Yep.” She says.
“Then-”
She cuts me off. “Sorry can’t talk. Bye.”
‘What did she do?’ Thoth asks sounding paranoid.
I sigh. ‘I don’t know. But I’m sure we’ll find out eventually.’
As we continue to walk, Amy looks down at my neck. "That's a cool neckless."
I smile. "Thanks. My grandpa gave it to me. He died about two years ago."
"A lion?" She asks.
The neckless is made of iron and it is of the shape of a lion's head.
"Yeah, his favorite animal—oddly enough since we are werewolves. It represents strengths. at least that's what he told me."
She smiles and we fall back into silence.
We continue walking until we make it to my room.
‘This is it... she’s coming into our room.’ I say to Thoth.
‘Yeah, and our underwear is probably on the floor.’ He says.
I almost gasp as I open the door because he is right. I have a mess but I can’t stop now.
I rush in and pick my clothes from the floor while Amy comes in behind me.
‘Just in time.’
I feel relieved but it doesn’t last. I almost choke when I see that stupid half mannequin on my desk and Amy is staring right at it.
“Abigail!” I growl out and I swear I can hear her laughing in my head even though she is really not here.
Amy looks at me and looks back at the mannequin. She bites her lips and looks back at me. I can tell that she is trying not to laugh.
With a sigh, I nod at her. “Go ahead.” I say.
She gives me a big smile. “I’m sorry... hahaha... it’s just that it’s so funny...hahaha”
“Yeah, yeah...” I’m a little embarrassed but I like that she’s laughing.
“You must have been really drunk to marry this thing...” She says still with laughter but then gets closer to the mannequin looking like she’s inspecting it.
“She looks kind of familiar...” She mumbles.
‘f**k!’
‘Do something, do something!’ Thoth panics.
Abigail really did not help when she dressed her in black like similar clothes Amy wears.
Amy sees that I am nervous and stands next to the mannequin, looking at me.
This is when I almost lose it. Looking at Amy and the mannequin side to side makes me almost s**t my pants because how can she not see that it looks like her? I want to laugh and cry at the same time.
I rush in, take the mannequin and throw it in my closet before she can figure it out.
“Let's forget about that thing.” I say.
She starts laughing again. “Okay.”
‘Damn Abigail. She won’t let this die out!’
‘Our sister is such an ass!’ Thoth says.
Amy starts looking around the room. “So, this is a werewolf’s room.”
I smile. “Yep... disappointed?”
“Yeah, I was expecting to see claw slashes all around the walls and fur all over the bed.”
I narrow my eyes at her knowing she is joking around.
She smiles. “No. It’s just like I expected it to be for a guy’s room.”
“Ah, so you’re not impressed?”
She laughs.
“Well then...” I pick up my guitar and sit on my desk chair, rolling it around to face her.
“Oh, you play?” She asks surprised.
“Yeah, but don’t expect me to sing... because I can’t.” I say getting ready to throw out some tunes.
She laughs and sits on my bed.
I start to play a melody I have been working on this last summer. It is a slow, relaxing, and soft tune. A tune that could go with a ballad.
When I am done, she claps with a smile. “Is that your own?”
“Yeah. Obviously, it’s not finished.” I say but I am distracted by her.
I am so surprised because she seems a bit different than she usually is. She’s always quiet, closed off, and never shows her emotions. But now she somehow looks... carefree.
“Did you really like it? I mean, is it your type of music?” I ask.
“Why do you ask that? Because of the way I look?” She asks and laughs. “For your information, I like all kinds of music. I dress like this because it’s how I feel comfortable, not because of what music I listen to.”
I give her side smiles. “Well, goth looks good on you.”
Her face suddenly turns red and now I am embarrassed too. Usually, I am very smooth at talking with girls but Amy is different. She is not like all the other girls that are always trying to flirt with me.
I now try to change the mood. “Um... so... tell me, what have you been up to?”
“You mean... what did I do?" She asks. "The thing I was going to tell you?”
“Yes but wait.” I hold a finger up to her looking around my room. “Do you like movies?” I ask her.
I know she agreed to watch a movie later with Leon and Tinsley but I am not sure if she really was into it.
“Oh... uh... yeah.” She says.
I find what I am looking for. “Good. Let's watch this while we talk.”
I just don’t want it to be awkward or for her to feel uncomfortable while we talk.
I pop in the old DVD and sit next to Amy on the bed.
“What are we watching?” She asks.
“The Lost Boys. It’s an old vampire movie.”
“Oh, I think saw it a long time ago but I can’t remember it.” She says.
“So, you don’t mind?”
She shakes her head. “No. I don’t mind.”
“Okay...” I press play on the control. “So, what happened?” I ask as the movie starts.
“Well...” She seems nervous to say. “I... well... I... do you remember how Tinsley’s family summoned Mammon? He Astro-projected.”
I nod.
“Well... I... kind of did the same.”
“What?” I am surprised. Not what I expected to hear.
“But I kept him in a magical cage!” She quickly says.
Oh, goddess! I didn’t think this is what she had done.
‘Summoning a demon! This girl is crazy!’ Thoth says.
‘I did promise I wouldn’t judge her, so let's just listen.’ I say to Thoth.
Amy continues. “So... I know I shouldn’t have. But anger got the best of me. He... he told me he killed my mother.”
‘Oh man.’
Thoth sighs.
“He also said that my powers would get worse. Marco wants me to leave this be but how can I? Since I was a child, I never felt like I belonged and when finally, I find a place that is for people like me, I still don’t belong because I am still different from everyone else, even different from other witches. And now I have answers as to why I am like this so how am I supposed to just let this go?”
Her eyes water but I can see she fights the tears back.
Now seeing this from her perspective, I understand why she did it. And I can’t blame her for that.
“Let me help you.” I suddenly say without even thinking.
I put my hand over hers. Our bodies are close to each other. Looking into her blue watery eyes, all I want to do is lean in and kiss her.
“You... want to help me?” She asks.
I slowly nod.
“Why?” She asks.
“I... just do.” I say.
After a few seconds of silence, she nods. “O... okay.” She says also looking into my eyes.
I look at her lips and instinctively lick my own lips.
She abruptly gets up. “I think the best way would be through your sister.”
Now my spell is broken with the mention of my sister. “What? Why?”
“Because she knows Aurora more than I do. She has spent more time with her and they are friends.”
“Aurora? Why?” I ask completely confused.
“I need to get to Aurora’s book without her knowing. I’ll explain everything.” She says.
I don’t like the idea of bringing my sister into this because she is a horrid creature. But Abigail would be up for it. She is up for anything that has mischief written all over it.
With a big sigh, I nod. “Okay.”
“Okay! Let's go find her.”
“Now?”
“Yep.” She smiles.
With another sigh, I get up and follow her out.
“Ooh, you two were doing the nasty!” Garnet says suddenly appearing in front of us in the hall.
“Shut up Garnet!” Amy shouts.
“Seems like Amy is living her werewolf fantasies.” Garnet keeps teasing.
“Garnet, you do know that Amy set herself and a few guys on fire today because they were teasing her, right?” I tell her.
Garnet's stupid smile completely falls and gives Amy puppy eyes. “You would never do that to me, would you?”
Amy narrows her eyes at him.
“You know I love you!” Garnet says. “But you really shouldn’t be ashamed of s*x with a yummy werewolf.”
Hearing Garnet say that as he looks at me in his male form gives me the creeps. I feel very objectified.
Amy gasps but then smirks looking behind Garnet. “Oh! Hey CHARLOTTE!” She shouts at Charlotte who walks in the distance at the end of the hall.
“Biiiiiitch!” Garnet shouts with a screech at Amy and runs away.
I start laughing. I have never seen Garnet so scared or heard her make that kind of noise.
