ALLISTER
I traced my tongue over my fangs, before entering the room. She was sitting on the couch as usual, looking out the window. Her gaze met mine, and she frowned a little, seemingly noticing that I was on edge. She was quite observant, I had to give her that. I took a few careful steps closer to her, before clearing my throat.
"Here's the thing," I began, knowing there was no nice way to go about this. "It's been over a week since I got you. And I think it's about time you start serving me," I said simply.
Her heart rate sped up instantly, enough for me to hear it even at this distance. She quickly stood up from the couch, staring at me with wide eyes. "What?"
"I'm sure you know what that means." I walked towards her, and she started backing away from me, her mouth slightly parted in fear. She didn't have to be that afraid. "Don't worry, you're not gonna die, alright? And it won't even hurt too much, I promise." It really wouldn't. I was going to be very careful.
Her back hit the wall, and she inhaled sharply, tears filling her eyes. I took the opportunity to trap her there, caging her between my arms. I didn't want her to try and run. That would be plain stupid.
"Allister," she whispered, her voice trembling, "please don't do this. I--I promise I won't disobey you again."
God.
"No, this isn't punishment," I reassured. Maybe if she knew that, she would calm down slightly. This wasn't aimed at hurting or disciplining her. "This is normal, Xyla. I think I've given you quite a lot of time to adjust, haven't I?"
I really had. No other vampire, lycan, or werewolf would be that considerate. I had taken things very slow with her. It was time she started being an actual pet.
Her teary eyes darted around the room, as if she was looking for a way to run. As if she could. But her whole body was shivering by now, and I felt a slight guilt tug at my heart. I wasn't even doing anything wrong. But her reaction was making me feel bad.
"All--Allister, please," she cried, as a tear rolled down her cheek.
"Hey, shh," I whispered, gently wiping it away with my thumb. She flinched as soon as I touched her, making me frown. I didn't like this. At this pace, she would pass out again. She didn't even have to be so scared of me, I hadn't even hurt her before. But I did understand where she was coming from. I knew that from all the stories she had heard, we were supposed to kill them on the slightest inconvenience. I had to find a way to make her believe that these weren't her last moments. "Listen." I gently took her chin, forcing her to meet my gaze again. "Can you trust me?"
She did not answer. Of course she couldn't. But I had to try.
"Xyla," I said again, "can you trust me? Just this once?" My tone was almost desperate now. I didn't want to do this without her consent, and I most definitely did not want her to be terrified of me again. We had reached a slight balance by now, and I didn't want to screw that up.
"W--Why are you doing this to me?" she asked, sniffing. Her voice was absolutely broken. "I thought you were different, I thought you--" she cut herself off, closing her eyes.
I let out a tired sigh. Okay, there was one way we could go about this.
"Look at me, Xyla," I commanded.
She shook her head no.
I pursed my lips, contemplating whether I should force her to. But that would only make things worse. So I decided to stay silent, and give her the moment she needed. Maybe it would help her calm down.
Finally, she opened her eyes and looked at me.
I took a step back, to give her some space. What I had decided to do was to show her that she was the one in control of the situation. I had to get this through her head, that she was the one who would decide what would happen next. I extended my hand towards her, stopping at a safe distance. "Come here." My tone was as soft and gentle as I could muster. I also remembered what she had said, about being uncomfortable with men touching her. In this situation, it was unavoidable. So before I’d hold her to feed on her, I had to remind her that she was safe with me.
So I needed her to agree to this herself. Get used to my touch, even if it would be for a few moments.
She sniffled, glancing at my hand and then up at me.
"It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you. Just relax, and come here." I gave her a nod.
Okay, this was starting to work. She placed her hand in mine, and I realized how much it was trembling. I carefully led her closer to me, before I slowly wrapped my arm around her waist. I was going to pull her in for a hug, let her know that I could touch her without any bad intentions. That my touch wouldn't always mean imminent harm. I also gave her time to push me away if she wanted. But she didn't, so I pulled her to my chest. She tensed up, probably thinking that this was how I was going to bite her. So just to reassure her once more, I rest my chin on the top of her head. That way, it was obvious I wasn't trying to get to her neck.
It did work, because I felt her relax slightly. I held her close for a few moments, not saying anything. When her heart beat sounded better, I decided it was safe to speak.
In all honesty, this was so much more work than one would expect to do on a pet. But I couldn’t keep two pets at the same time and I didn’t want to return or get rid of her. Especially not when she already seemed so traumatised by past events.
"Let's make a deal, alright?" I said. "If, it hurts too much, or you think you won't be able to take it again, I promise you, I'll never do it again."
Woah. What an amazing offer for a pet. There was no way she could let this one pass. What other Master would be that nice to her?
Why was I being that nice?
I had to convince her in some way. It wasn't like I couldn't go back on my word later on. I could do anything I wanted. But for now, I needed this to be with her permission. I didn't know why, but my mind was adamant on it.
"Just let me do it once, alright? We'll be joining my family for dinner tonight, and my father won't be very pleased if your neck is as clean as it is. He's a sick jerk, I don't know how he'll react. So I'm just trying to save us from unnecessary drama and stress," I told her honestly.
She took a few moments to think it over. That was okay. I had time. No rush. But her body language was already answering my question. Whilst she had relaxed quite a bit, her heart was still racing. I could just tell that she was genuinely considering it.
I mean, who wouldn't? It was a perfect offer. From what it seemed like to her, it was a one time thing followed by a life of freedom. No fear for the rest of her time here. It was too tempting, and I knew it.
"O--Okay."
Bull's eye.
I let out a short breath, before pulling away to look at her.
"Deal?"
She nodded.
"Great. Come." I took her wrist and lead her to the bed. "I'm gonna need you to lie down."
It was the best way I could go about this. Making her lie down would allow me to get on top of her, which would prevent her from squirming too much. The more she'd move, the more it would hurt. It would also be the safest option, as she wouldn't accidentally hurt herself on the bed.
Her eyes widened as she stared at me. "Is that necessary?"
I could understand her doubts. Being under a Superior couldn't be the most comfortable for her, especially given how afraid she was of me. But it really was the best way.
"It's gonna prevent you from hurting yourself. It's safest, and won't put a strain on you," I explained.
She blinked a couple of times, before nodding. She sat down on the bed, and carefully lay down, her eyes not leaving me for even a second. The moment I climbed in, and straddled her thighs, her heart paced again, and her eyes widened considerably. She tried to sit up, panicking, but I gently pushed her back down. She was trembling all over, and it once again made me feel guilty.
"Relax, relax," I said, giving her a reassuring look. "It's gonna be over before you know it. I won't hurt you, Xyla, I promise."
Well, it would hurt a little. But if she'd remain still, it would get better very soon. Only the actual bite was supposed to be painful. The rest, I had heard, was bearable if the person didn't try to get away from it. The vampire also had to be good at it. And I was. I knew the dos and don'ts.
"You're not going to kill me, right?" she asked quietly. "This isn't punishment for what I--"
"It's not. I'm not punishing you. And I won't kill you. You'll be fine," I promised.
She took a deep breath.
"You ready?"
She nodded.
"I need you to arch your back slightly, and come closer to me."
She seemed reluctant for a moment, but then followed my command. I wrapped my arm around her waist to help hold her up, not wanting to make this tiring for her. I pulled her tiny body against my chest, able to feel the loud beating of her heart. That was okay, that was normal. It was only natural for pets to be afraid.
"Good girl. Now, I'd hold onto your wrists, but I don't want you to feel too trapped or restrained," I said, wanting her to know that I wanted the best for her. I pushed her hair away from her neck, setting it down on her other shoulder. I then took her chin and tilted her face away, giving me more access to her neck. "So instead, you hold onto my shirt. You can dig your nails into my back if it hurts too much. I won't mind." That would also help with her stress.
"Okay," she said softly, before awkwardly wrapping her arms around me and grabbing onto my shirt. Her body was rigid and tense, but that was normal too.
"Close your eyes."
My gaze now fixed on her neck, as I slowly leaned in, trying to find the best spot. With the way her heart was beating, it wasn't too hard. I easily spotted her throbbing vein, my hand going to take a loose hold of her hair, just to prevent her from moving back with a jerk.
There was two ways I could go about this; I could either just bite her immediately, or I could take my time with it. Just to get her to relax slightly.
Biting her instantly didn't seem like too nice an idea.
So I gently pressed my lips to the spot first, and she immediately gasped, her hold on me tightening.
Woah. Okay. I haven't even bitten you yet, woman.
Maybe she needed more time.
I couldn't exactly kiss her, or suck on her skin, both of which would be highly inappropriate. So instead, I decided to lick the skin. My saliva would also help numb the area slightly. That didn't get too major a reaction out of her, so I followed it with lightly grazing my teeth over her pulse. My gums were already itching, and I knew that if I waited another moment for her to calm down, my own actions would go out of my control. So even as I heard her heart beating like a literal drum, I went ahead with it.
I buried my fangs into her neck.
She let out a muffled cry, trying not to scream right in my ear. She even tried to pull away from me, but I kept her in place. There was no going back now.
Especially after the blood hit my tongue.
Oh damn. That was the best blood I'd ever tasted.
Everything else dissolved away as I took the first sip. The liquid swirled over my tongue, before making its way down my throat, spreading a gentle warmness all over. My tongue wanted to dance with the taste of it. I had never ever tried blood like this before, it was extraordinary. Perfectly sweet, with a slight bitterness to it. I didn't even know I'd like that.
A quiet growl started to erupt in my throat, as I continued to suck in her blood. Despite all my instincts screaming at me to just rip her throat and take it all, I kept a close check on the amount I was taking, reminding myself of the promise I made to her, and the ones I had made to myself.
I'd never kill a human while feeding on them. Especially not my own pet.
Especially not her. She had placed her trust in me, and I wasn't going to break it.
I could tell I would need to stop soon when she loosened her hold on me, and relaxed in my arms. The girl was malnourished, and I couldn't risk drinking too much. But I figured I could go on for just a while longer, and I gently caressed her waist to reassure her. Her heart beat had slowed down by now, to what was normal.
Which it never was, when she was around me.
Yeah, I'd taken enough.
I willed myself to pull my fangs out of her, proceeding to lick the wound. Being a werewolf had one good thing, and that was it. Our healing properties were also in our saliva, so we could lick ourselves and heal even quicker if hurt. Being a hybrid, it came in handy. As I had expected, her bleeding stopped almost at once.
I gently lay her down on the pillows, noticing the few stains of tears on her cheeks. It brought back a tiny proportion of the guilt, but the aftertaste in my mouth shooed it away again. She opened her eyes and met my gaze, sucking in a sharp breath.
Right. The part where we looked like 'monsters' to humans. Our eyes would turn completely red for the time we were feeding, and the veins and arteries of our chin and throat would turn almost black. But it only lasted a few seconds after the feeding, until the time we were still swallowing the remnants of the blood. I licked the blood off my fangs, and soon I felt the effects calm down slightly. I knew my eyes were normal again, and the veins had disappeared behind the skin.
"So?" I asked, raising my eyebrows. "You feeling okay?" I realized there was still some blood on my lower lip, so I wiped it with my thumb and licked it.
"I--I think so," she whispered, watching me weirdly.
It wasn't my fault it was her first time.
"And how was it?"
She simply shrugged.
"You think you can take it again?" I asked, trying not to let my tone sound too hopeful.
She still shook her head no.
How mean. I knew it wasn't that bad. I mean, I had been gentle. I had taken careful measures, that I had never taken with Jiya. She never stopped me. But I never gave her the choice either.
So this one was kinda on me.
Meh, who cares? If I want to, I'll feed on her again. But she doesn't need to know that right now. I'd just ask her again next time, and pretend to really need it or something.
There was no way in hell I wasn't tasting that again.
"Alright, I understand. I'm sorry if it hurt too much," I stated, before climbing off the bed.
She did the same, and as soon as she stood up, she stumbled.
I caught hold of her by the waist, pulling her to my chest to steady her. She opened her eyes, blinking up at me in confusion.
"You okay?" I asked. "Do you feel lightheaded?"
She nodded.
"I guess I took too much," I concluded, before picking her up.
She gasped, holding onto me, as I contemplated taking her to the couches, or even to the pet room. I decided against either, and placed her down on the bed, before covering her with my blanket. I didn't like that, but since she had been so cooperative, I could let her rest in my bed. Just this once.
"I'll order you something to eat, and then you can sleep for a bit if you want. I'm really sorry for this," I said honestly. I never liked the effect this had on humans. They seemed and looked so fragile after being fed on.
She once again nodded, closing her eyes. Her black hair was falling over her eyes, so I took the liberty to brush them away. We had just touched a lot, so I hoped she wouldn't mind the minor interaction.
But I didn't expect her to give no reaction at all.
"Xyla?" I leaned closer to her.
She just stirred, whining.
"Don't sleep now," I said, lightly tapping her cheek.
She opened her eyes, blinking a couple of times. "I'm tired."
"I know," I nodded, "it's normal. Don't sleep right now. You have to eat something first."
If she slept without eating, she would definitely wake up sick, with a severe headache. I had experience with Jiya in this case.
She seemed slightly awake, so I took the moment to pick up the phone and call the chef. I ordered her a nice, medium-rare steak, with a side of mashed potatoes. It was my favorite, so I figured she'd like it too.
"Why are you... Why are you taking care of me?" she asked just as I put the phone back, taking me completely off-guard.
My eyes widened, eyebrows furrowing.
"Because I don't want you to fall sick and die?" It sounded more like a question.
"Why not? I'm a terrible pet," she joked.
I couldn't help but smile. She wasn't exactly terrible. I had had better, but she wasn't so bad. Not with that blood, and the cooperation she had shown me today. Even if it was for a selfish reason. It was definitely amusing that she thought she was a terrible pet, though.
"Just rest, but stay awake." I ran my hand through her hair again, just because it had felt really silky last time. She didn't seem to mind. "Your food will be here in a bit, okay?"
She nodded. "What are you parents like?"
I frowned again. She was acting all weird.
"My parents?" I confirmed, thinking over it. "They're okay."
"Okay?"
"Yeah."
"What about your siblings? You guys close?"
I shrugged, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "You could say that. I have two sisters, Eleanora and Hela. I'm close to Eleanora, but Hela is a kind of a brat."
She smiled, her eyes displaying a far-off look. "It must be nice. To have siblings, I mean."
"It is. Except when you feel this urge to kill them, but you can't, because your parents would kill you. What about you? You had any?"
"Only child."
That was slightly sad. And unexpected.
"Oh."
"You seem surprised," she said.
"No, I just, uh, assumed you'd have at least three other siblings. It felt unlikely for a human to sell off their only child."
What kind of a person does that? How poor was this woman?
"Some people are more messed up than you'd think," she said softly, causing my frown to deepen.
I hummed, not knowing what else to say, and just as if on cue, there was a knock on the door.
Saved by the food.
