I don't know why, but I just flung myself at Derek. I just needed his touch at that moment and I don't really understand why. For some reason, my body feels safe around him which is something that I have never felt around anyone for that matter. I could feel that Derek was a little stunned by what I did so it took him a minute to register what I just did…but after a second or two, he wrapped his arms around me.
I could not describe to you the feeling that ran thru my body when he did that. It felt like every bone in my body was leaning towards him and I felt a sense of comfort rush over me like I had been splashed with cold water. I decided for once in my life that I was going to run towards feeling safe. I tightened my arms around him as he did the same to me. I breathed out a sigh of relief when he continued to accept my hug. I nudged my face in his chest as I leaned more into him, if that was even possible, and he chuckled while still hugging me.
“Thank you.” I tell him softly as I pull away from the hug even though my body is begging me not to.
He smiles at me which causes my stomach to flip. “You are more then welcome.”
Then it hit me…. He knew where I was… He was just here… Oh no…. Mara saw my change and she was quickly at my side as she wrapped an arm around me.
“Are you okay, M?” Mara asks me.
“It is…hi..hitting…me..that..he..is…really…here…” I end up stuttering out.
Derek is quick to come to my side as he cups my face in his hands and he forces me to look at him. “Everything is okay. You are safe here, I promise. I have men right now that are guarding us and he will not get you while you are here.” He reassures me.
“My brother is right. You are safe here, don’t worry.” Mara adds.
I close my eyes while I find myself leaning into Derek’s touch and I take some deep breathes while I calm myself down. I can feel it within myself that I am safe here. This is first place that I have even felt safe after my mother died. I have not felt this type of non-worry cover my body before. I quickly calm down so Derek lets go of my face as Mara unwraps her arm from around me.
“I’ll be in my office if you two need anything, alright?” Derek says after he straightens himself out.
“We will be fine!” Mara says as she drags me off to the kitchen before I can say anything.
Once in the kitchen, Mara whips up some bomb a** food and then walks me back to my room since I don’t know my way around. She tells me goodnight before she disappears off to another room across the hall and I disappear in mine. I am so tired that I just change my clothes and I fall on the bed while cuddling the blankets up to me. It doesn’t take long before I am off to dreamland.

"I need to know how some little brat got a hold of my address. Can you tell me how." I simply spoke to one of my men.
I was not mad pre-say but I would still like to know. I mean I have this house completely on lockdown so there is no way for that little spoiled rich kid to get in even with his daddys money.
"It would seem that his father does some business with our family so his father has some insight as to where you live, sir."
"Alright, thank you." I respond to D.
"Si Capo."
I hang the phone and turn my attention to my computer as I am still working on finding out who shot my mother. We have gotten further along since the last time we looked into things, so that is a good sign. I decided to work on some business while Mara and Macy hangout and eat since I don't really want Macy in here while I am working.
After who knows how long, Mara comes into my office.
"What's up bro?"
"Working on finding out who shot mom." I tell her bluntly.
"Find anything out?" She asks.
"We are working on a few leads right now, why?" I ask her as I look up from my laptop since she never wants to know about the details of this type of business that we do.
She sighs before she looks up at me. "I just feel like that I should be doing something besides going to work and then home. I mean...f**k, I am her daughter for f**ks sake and I am doing nothing right now!"
I sit back on my chair as I look at my sister from her little outburst and I just wait until she calms down so I can respond.
"Mom supports the fact that you are not apart of this type of business. I chose this life while you chose a life that mom has always wanted for you. She has always wanted you to not be apart of this horror that we call a life. You deserve to have happiness with Lee while you two handle the legal side of things while we get our hands dirty, on the other side. Mom doesn't want you to do anything because she knows that she can count on you to handle the business while we handle this. Okay?"
She nods before she looks off at the wall. I sigh as I get up and walk over to her and I pull her into my chest as I wrap my arms around her. She just leans into me as she lets out a sob that rakes through her body and I can tell that she needed this so I just held her close to me.
