I considered fighting him. But where would I go? Opening the door would only let the others in, as he'd said. I couldn't get to that roof hatch he'd mentioned. And this was all one large open room. He watched my face avidly. "That's right, Lyra. Nowhere to run now." Then he sunk into me. I yelped against the soreness and lurched up. He put his hands on my shoulders and pushed them back down.
