Chapter Six The time had come for the Storm to make their way south, back to their usual tribal circuit before the worst of the winter caught them still journeying along the edges of Broad Plain. Marin the huntmaster knew this, and so did all the other tribesfolk. Yet still they delayed. Callan realised that something had to be said. The tribe could not over-winter in the ravine. There was simply not enough food to support them. With two packs and the herd of equii, resources would be stretched enough, and anything they hunted or gathered had to be contested with every other living creature that called the ravine home.
