Daniel
I arrived back home and the shuttle took me to the office. I drove back to the pack house and was met with a welcoming party. I didn’t think they would, but the surprise was such a great gesture from my people. I missed home, I missed my people, a month felt like a lifetime. Even though I missed everyone here, I missed my mate even the more. “Welcome back home son.” My mom said opening wide her arms. I hugged her tightly. I stayed a bit with them and excused myself to go rest. I was a bit jetlag. I mind linked Tony to come to my room. I really wanted to know how my lady had been fairing in my absence. He knocked on the door and I told him to come in. “Hi Alpha, welcome back home. Do you need any help?” he spoke formally and I knew that was because of how I treated him the morning after I found Bella. “Thanks cousin, I just wanted to know how she is. I’ve been away for long. I was just wondering if she was okay.” I asked. “Unfortunately I wouldn’t know Alpha.” He said, still insisting on the formal title. “What do you mean?” I asked. “We’ve finished our exams two weeks ago and we don’t go to school any more. We are only waiting for the results in two month’s time then we will graduate towards end of December. Maybe that’s when I’ll get to see her. ‘End of December? That’s like three months from now.’ I muttered inside and sighed. “Why didn’t you ask her for her number or her address at least? I had totally forgotten that you guys were writing your exams and would be closed from there.” I said helplessly plumping butt down on my bed. My head was spinning. What kind of a mystery is this? I found my mate, the one I waited for so many years, the most beautiful thing I’ve ever called mine, I messed up by mating with her prematurely, creating a lasting bond, now I’ve lost her. And all I’m left with now is this bond that I know would never allow me to be with anyone else even if I don’t ever get to see her ever again. How do I begin to find her without a physical address, in such a big city with millions of different faces? ‘I told you we should have marked her that night. She wouldn’t have stayed away.’ Max said. ‘Shut up you stray dog! We are in this mess because of your impulsive primal behavior.’ I rebuked him. He rolled his eyes. I truly will have to start taking charge back from my wolf before I get into more trouble. He scoffed and retreated. “I tried man, but it looked like she was under some detention or restriction of some sort. There was a man who looked like her bodyguard who was always hovering over her. Straight from the class he would be waiting for her outside and usher her to the car. I think maybe they had sneaked out for the party and now they were being punished for it because all the BCD gang were being treated that way ever since the party.” Tony said and that actually hurt me. “What’s the BCD gang?” I asked. “Bella, Claire and Diana. That’s how we called them at school.” He responded. Why would her parents treat her like a 16 year old? She is 18 already! I couldn’t believe that. “Nah, I don’t think so, what if she was in some sort of danger and they were just protecting her?” I queried not wanting to believe that she was being punished. “What is her last name?” I ask him. “Smith! I hear her father is one of the richest in Edmonton, well after you of course!” he teased me. I ignored that. I thanked him and dismissed him. I got into a shower and went to bed with the intention to go find my mate, my goddess given gift. ‘Even if it takes me literally going from house to house, I must find her.
I was driving the streets of Edmonton looking everywhere in the residential areas. I heard that she is from a rich family so I thought scaling down on rich locations would be much helpful. I was driving a Mercedes Benz rather than a Jeep. I was with Tony, because when we locate her, Tony as her former schoolmate will be helpful. We entered this gated community with rich apartments. At the gate, a very bulky and not so polite man stood there. “Yes, how can I help you?” he bellowed his voice a bit grumpy like he had had a lot of alcohol. His face wasn’t anywhere near friendly. “Good morning sir! Yes please we are looking for the Smith residence.” I used my alpha tone, yet I knew this guy was just a human and therefore my Alpha tone had no effect on him.
“And you are?” he asked his eyes piercing my soul. He really looked scary even if I have to say so myself, the beast, the scariest Alpha in my region. Have I mentioned to you that I’m the High Alpha in my region? The position I ruthlessly fought for. All the rogues in my region tremble at the mention of my name. I became ruthless and heartless towards the rogues after one ferocious rogue killed my father when he was unprepared and incapacitated to defend himself. I gave all control to Max and he would ruthlessly kill without a care. That was why he would take control whenever he felt I was going soft, for instance, when he took over and mated with Bell. My father’s demise is one hellish memory embedded in me forever, that makes me want to wipe off every rogue I come across. The results of that killing forced me into an Alpha office before I was ready. Another thing that made me give control to Max was the continuous taunting by my people trying to force me to take a chosen mate, saying I was getting weak without a mate. Max got mad and became ruthless just to prove to them that we can never be weak. I cleared my throat and said with confidence, “I am Daniel Hector, CEO of the Hector Inc.” I said and he typed something on his phone, holding out his hand to make us wait. The security here was surely up to a higher standard. “How do I know that you are not just an imposter?” he asked and I gave him my ID. He nodded and went inside a small room, I guess a control room and the gate opened. “Go straight and turn to your left. The second house on your right is the Smith residence.” He said. We drove as directed and parked in the driveway. Just as we got out of the car, I saw her. The most beautiful and radiant girl in the whole world. Max was elated and started jumping up and down. I smiled at her but my heart fell when she ran inside the house. I just stood there transfixed. ‘Why was she running away from me?’ I wondered. After two minutes, a tall, masculine man got out of the house with a short gun. I was petrified. I didn’t move a muscle. I was all confused. What’s with all this hostility even before we could say hello? “Which one of you is Daniel?” he growled. I lifted my hand. “I’m going to give you 30 seconds to get out of my property or else I shoot you, you r****t!” he growled. ‘What? r****t? Me, r****t? What on earth did Bella tell her father?’ I wondered. I couldn’t move an inch. I didn’t know how to describe what I was feeling. It ranged from sadness to anger to love to hurt. ‘Mate lied about us?’ Max grunted his heart crushed. While I was reveling in my thoughts I heard it. A gun shot, and before I knew it, I was down blood oozing from my chest. Tony screamed and I saw Bella behind her father holding tightly to her chest looking right into my eyes as they closed slowly. ‘I love you mate, forever!’ I whispered as I felt Max dying, knowing for sure I will in a matter of minutes.
