~ Two years after he was found ~
************************************************
"Emrys, as soon as you're done with the dishes take the bin to the end of the drive, will ya? Thanks." Rebecca, my group home mother said.
Rebecca didn't even give me a chance to respond. She simply gave me an order and walked away. Still, I won't complain. I've been to worse homes.
Rebecca only became a foster parent to use the kids like everyone else. With Rebecca, though, she just wanted us to do chores. She doesn't care about much else as long as her house is clean and tidy. Rebecca lets us eat, shower, and pretty much do whatever we want. She doesn't care about us past being her live-in maids.
With a sigh, I went around the house, emptying all the bins in each room. Then I took the large bin to the end of the drive. I looked around at the packed neighborhood. This city is just as bustling as all the others. I miss the quiet of the small town I found in.
Reluctantly, I went back inside. I finished all the chores. It's been years since I was found on that road. Years of no answers.
No one came looking for me, so after a few months in the hospital... I was thrown into foster care. I started school, and found out that I'm exceptionally smart in all subjects aside from history. Exceptionally smart, but I still have no idea who I am.
Well, except my name, that is. If it weren't for the strange necklace that I had on when I was found, we wouldn't have known my name. Of course, the necklace was more of an amulet.
The amulet was large. It was all gold, even the thick chain. It was shaped like a diamond, and appeared to be hollow. Almost like a locket. However, there is no way to open it. And right on the back in beautiful calligraphy it says:
To my darling Emrys.
That was the only clue I had about myself. Just my name. And that I was someone's darling, I guess.
With a sigh, I knocked on the girls' bedroom door. After I was told to come in, I opened the door with a smile on my face. Ellie and Chelsea smiled back at me.
Ellie is already lying in her bed, tucked in. She looks adorable with the pink fluffy blanket pulled up to her chin. Her dark brown eyes lit up with her smile. Ellie is only eight years old. She's so adorable and kind. Ellie's parents died in a car crash two years ago.
"You ready for your field trip tomorrow?" I asked her.
Ellie nodded excitedly.
"Alright, you get some sleep then. I'll make sure everything is ready for you in the morning," I told her.
Ellie smiled, and gave me a nod. I got up from her bed, and shut her bedside light off. Then I looked over at Chelsea sitting at her desk with the lamp on.
"You should get some sleep too," I said as I leaned against her desk.
"I have an important test tomorrow." She replied without looking at me.
Chelsea is very set in her ways. She's been in the system longer than the rest of us. Chelsea is 15, and has been in foster care for her entire life. She has no idea who her parents are.
"Is there anything the two of you need?" I asked with a sigh.
"Tampons," she muttered.
I rolled my eyes.
"And Ellie needs socks," Chelsea told me.
"Alright, I will get both tomorrow," I replied. "And some chocolate."
"Thank you," Chelsea sung out as I walked to the door.
I walked down the hall to the room I share with my very best friend. I opened the door to our room, and quietly shut it. Duncan was sitting on his bed with his sketchbook out. He looked up at me with a smile.
Duncan and I met when I came here a few months ago. We became instant friends. I hope that the four of us get to stay here until we're 18. Duncan, I already have plans for our future. Which include art school for him, and... I don't know what for me.
Duncan is a pretty quiet and shy guy. He has a great personality, but years in the system has made him timid. Especially after already getting taken away from an abusive father and cracked out mum.
Not that Duncan's looks match his personality. Duncan, though, has black hair and deep brown eyes. He's kind and looks that way too. He looks like a jock with his build though.
Regardless of how we all ended up together, we're family now.

~ Four Years Later ~
*******************************************
The glowing waters and illuminated plants light up the forest in the night. Bugs flew into the air, lighting a trail as I ran through the forest. A giggle bubbles from my chest as the crisp air whips past my face.
Until suddenly everything starts to fade to black.
"Emrys!!" I heard someone shout.
I turned around, but it was too late. Everything was black. The forest I just saw was now gone.
The forest...
What did it look like again? Where was I going? Where am I now?
Panic started to rise in my chest. My breathing started coming out ragged. Then, suddenly, the floor was swept from under me, and I was falling. I flailed around, trying to reach for something in the darkness.
"Emrys....!" I heard my name again, but this time it sounded different.
At least, I think it sounds different.
"Emrys...!" The voice shouted again, sounding closer.
"Emrys!"
My eyes snapped open and I gasped. I shot up in bed, knocking my head right into Duncan. We both hissed out and gripped our heads.
"Awh, dude," Duncan groaned.
"Sorry," I muttered.
"It's okay." He replied. "You were having another nightmare."
"Thanks for waking me," I said, trying to calm my beating heart.
"Couldn't just leave ya like that, mate." Duncan replied with a smile. "Besides, you were making the room shake again..."
My eyes widened.
"It's happening more," he mumbled.
"I need to learn how to control it," I said.
"I think you should just count yourself lucky that Rebecca doesn't care about what we do," Duncan said as he shuffled around our room.
"Yeah, I guess," I mumbled.
"Ellie made you breakfast," Duncan said as he grabbed his backpack. "Oh, and happy birthday."
I sighed after Duncan left our room.
Birthday. It doesn't feel like my birthday. I don't know if today is even my actual 16th birthday. No one knows for sure.
I walked to the dresser to grab my clothes for the day. I looked up at myself in the mirror. My strange eyes looked red and blood shot due to my nightmare that I remember nothing about.
My eyes are the strangest thing about me. Doctors could never figure it out. They're deep blue with streaks of purple and flecks of gold. Girls like them, but they just remind me that I'm different.
I shook my head and changed fast. I ran a hand through my dark brown hair, giving it a messy look. Then I blew out a breath before walking out of my room.
Not to sound self-centered, but I'm an attractive guy. That's what everyone at school says anyway. I'm tall, beefy, and have a chiseled jaw. My looks are good, I suppose. I think I'm decent, but it's hard to care about stuff like that.
Not when I'm like this. A freak. A total fu.cking whack job.
See, I have... abilities.
On top of already having strange eyes that no one can explain, I can also make things move with my mind, control the elements, and I can tell when something bad is going to happen. I also get déjà vu a lot, heal fast, am stronger and faster than a normal person, and I never get sick.
All of that would normally sound fantastic except... I have no idea how to control myself. I don't even know what I am. It gets worse and worse the older I get too. So to the dreams. I don't know how to handle any of this.
I wish I was normal.
"Emrys," Rebecca called out to me just before I was going to walk into the kitchen. "Hey, just wanted to tell you happy birthday and happy Friday."
"Thanks," I replied.
"So, I have some exciting news," Rebecca said with a giddy squeal. "Stavros wants to take me on a trip this weekend. An expensive one. I told him no at first because it's your birthday weekend, butttt..."
Yeah right. Rebecca only said that to him to see what else she could get from him. I was just a perfect reason to see how far her dear Stavros is willing to go to keep her around.
"He offered to give you the best birthday ever as a thanks for stealing me for the weekend." Rebecca finished.
"What does that mean?" I asked.
My birthday's have been pretty uneventful for my entire life. I have only got a cake in the last two years because of Ellie. Now, all of a sudden, I'm getting something special.
"Well, he wanted to take all of us on his yacht this weekend, but I told him that you guys would rather hang out with your friends." She said.
Rather hang out with our friends than go on a yacht? A bunch of orphans who have nothing? Yeah, sure.
"So, instead, he's planning a party for you! Here! Tonight. After we leave. So, ya know, you guys can invite all the kids from school." Rebecca said suggestively as she wiggled her eyebrows.
"Are you telling me..." I trailed off confused. "To throw a party?"
