Chapter 10: Lennon's P.O.V.

Well, this is just getting more and more complicated. "You don't know who you are?" I asked, confused. "Uh, well, I know who I am. I'm Emrys Jones, super model and actor. I'm sure you've heard of me." He replied with all the arrogance in the world. "I've never heard of you," I blurted before I could stop myself. "Really?" Emrys asked with a smirk. "Then how did you know my name?" "I was looking for you," I told him. "See, you knew," he replied before turning back to his drink. I shook my head. My mate is apparently full of myself. That most likely means that he's a manwh.ore. Don't talk about our mate like that. Reika complained. Don't get your hopes up. He doesn't know what he is. I doubt he waited for us. I told her. He could of... She muttered. "No, no," I said, ignoring Reika. "I came looking for Emrys Evermore. You apparently don't think you're him. I came here to get Emrys the Fae prince. Not Emrys the egotistical model s***h actor." Emrys raised an amused brow at me. Which just irked me more. I already don't like him. We love him. Reika stated, proudly. I ignored her. "Alright then," Emrys said. "Why do you think I'm this guy then? I mean, a Fae prince? I don't even know what a Fae is. I'm definitely not prince material, sweetheart." Sweetheart? I love it, Reika declared, totally smitten. "You smell like him. I know you're him-" "Because I smell like him." Emrys cut me off. "Okay." I can tell that Emrys doesn't believe me. He probably thinks I'm some kind of psychotic fan. It doesn't matter though. I'm not leaving without him, so. "You do smell like him. Your mother gave me a blanket to catch your scent when I started looking for you." I told him. Emrys froze for a second. His entire body tensed as he slowly looked at me. I could see the shock clear in his eyes. Along with a lingering longing. It instantly hurt my heart. I know that look. I've rescued enough orphans for hunters. I grew up in a school that housed orphans. That look is the look of someone who never knew they had a parent out there. Emrys has been missing his family for so long. "You look like her too." I said softly. "A little bit." Emrys just blinked at me. His jaw went slack. He cleared his throat, and looked at his drink. A sullen look settled on his face, and I wondered if it was smart of me to say that. "You... know my mother now too? How endearing," he grumbled, sounding annoyed. Why do I like his annoyed voice better than his charming one? "Endearing?" I asked. "Look, Emrys, I know this is a lot to take in, but trust me. You have to come back with-" "Go back?" Emrys cut me off. "Go back to where? To what?" To where? To what? What does he mean? "To your home and family obviously," I replied, now feeling angry. Emrys chuckled coldy. "You show up out of the blue, don't even tell me your name, and claim to know who I am and my family?" He asked. "I've been here for over 20 years. Waiting. For anyone. No one came to look for me. No one cared. Now I'm just supposed to believe all of this? This crazy sh.it from a total stranger? No way. You sound mad, love." I don't think the prince remembers who he is. Reika whined. Me either. I agreed. Emrys also said he's been here for over 20 years. Does that mean he was somewhere else before this? I mean, he's been missing for hundreds of years. "I grew up in the foster system. You have no idea the sh.it I went through. And now you claim to have been sent here by my mother," Emrys said with a scoff. "The system?" I asked, confused. "You grew up in the system?" Emrys nodded. "Yup, after they found me wandering in the forest alone at night. I was ten," he told me. That was his age when he was taken. Our world didn't have a foster system 400 years ago. I'm so confused. "And how long ago was that?" I asked, licking my lips. "Well, I'm 34 now, so 24 years ago." He told me. Twenty-four... years ago...? Where the hell had he been all that time before? And he was still ten when he was found? Did someone... freeze him in time? How? Where did they hide him? And why did the spell break? "Are you really going to keep playing this game with me?" He asked me. I nodded as I tried to calm my spiraling thoughts. "Yeah," I replied. "I'm not leaving without you, so." "Well, looks like you're going to be here for a while," Emrys chuckled. "I'm just gonna wait for you to leave the bar, beat you up, and take you against your will." I said with a shrug. Emrys's head snapped to me as I sipped my drink. I didn't look at him, but I could tell he was wondering if I would really do that. And I really would, so I hope he doesn't push it. "Well, if you're going to be this stalk-ish, then perhaps you should tell me your name, doll." He said. I snapped my head to him with a frown. Of course, Emrys was much closer to me than I thought he was. Our faces are only a few inches apart now, but I wasn't backing down. "Lennon," I stated with narrowed eyes. "My name is Lennon, but everyone calls me Lenny. Not sweetheart, not doll, not mate. Lenny or Lennon. Those are your options." He can call us mate. Reika grumbled. "Hmmmm, Lennon or Lenny," Emrys drawled out my name like he was testing them for himself. And just like that, I was hooked. Hearing my mate say my name like that sent goosebumps down my body. I fought the shiver that wanted to run through me. My eyes fixated on Emrys's full lips as he tested my name again. The room started to grow hot. "Well, I might just use both," he stated with a laugh. Emrys turned back to his drink, and I realized at that moment that something was really wrong. The Fae prince has no idea who or what he is. He doesn't even seem to know about the supernatural world. Or is that affected by the mate bond. Emrys does know that he's something though. Which means he must have some of his powers at least. However, it's extremely odd that he doesn't recognize me as his mate at all. If he did... the pull would be stronger. He would have looked at me with dazed and lust-filled eyes when I said his name. Like all the other mates I see. Like I just did. Emrys clearly thought I was attractive, but... this isn't as intense as mate bonds are supposed to be. Is that because of whatever happened to him? Is it me? Is the prince just lying to me? I'm still not sold that this isn't a ploy to get away from me. Reika whined, but I ignored her. The mate bond is the last of my worries right now. I need to push that aside. Returning the lost prince back to his realm and his family is my first priority. I can worry about everything else later. "Emrys, I understand that... your confused." I told him. "I can't imagine how... difficult this must be to take in, but you have to come with me. Let me prove to you that your mother sent me-" Emrys scoffed, cutting me off. "You have no idea what I feel like. I've been a freak my whole life. Alone in this world." He said before leaning in closer to me. "You are the first person I have ever met that can do something similar to me." "Isn't that more reason to come with me?" I asked lowly, trying not to let that stupid sweet scent get to me. What even is that? He smells like... like... warm caramel and hints of cedar. I swear I can smell fresh air too. Like a subtle aftertaste. It's mouthwatering. Reika drooled. "I waited for 24 years for someone to come looking for me." Emrys stated. "The police searched. I even searched myself at one point. Now I'm supposed to believe that I have a mother looking for me? She should have looked sooner. I don't want to meet the woman who abandoned me when I-" "Shut the hell up," I growled, slamming my fist on the counter. A few people turned their heads to us, but I ignored them. Emrys raised a brow at me, looking upset but with amused eyes. I just glared at him. "You have no idea what you're talking about. You shouldn't talk about your mother like that. You have no idea-" Emrys chuckled darkly, cutting me off. "You're right. I have no idea. Because I was abandoned with no memories. No one ever came for me." He said. I held his gaze as my glare deepened. "You were never aband-" Suddenly, the bar door flew open with a loud thud. I was going to ignore it and keep talking, but then the most ear-piercing screech echoed through the bar. It made my stomach drop, my ears ring, and Reika extremely pi.ssed off. "Emrys! There you are!"
