Salil and Sanjay left a while later. I saw Scarlet plopping on the living room couch. Her hand was on her eyes as she sighed loudly.
I took a step but the hesitation halted me from approaching her. A lot has happened today.

“Why are you standing there and ogling me like an owl?” Scarlet asked in a tired tone. “Suddenly you’re thinking about your life choices, aren’t you?” She removed her hand from her eyes and watched me with a lazy gaze. A smile crept onto her lips that didn’t reach her eyes.
“So, this is it.” She slapped her thighs and got up swiftly. “We’re going home. Home sweet home.”
