As I sit in the room, I can feel the tension building around me. I'm acutely aware that all eyes are on me and Xavier, and I can feel the judgment radiating from our families. My heart is pounding in my chest, and my palms are slick with sweat.
"Dad, we need to talk," Xavier said in an authoritative tone.
"Xavier, stop." His mother warned him. "We'll talk later."
