Yes, I was furious. Misunderstood and offended by my own Mate. How could he?
I drove for about 2 hours to the south, when I felt really tired. I decided to spend the night in a wayside Motel. It wasn't what I was used to, but for a few hours of sleep will have to do.
I took a quick shower and lie down on a disused mattress. Sleep took over quicker than I thought. I must've been really exhausted.
My cell ringtone woke me up. I looked on screen only to see Keith's smiling face. Still annoyed, I quickly disconnected the incoming call, and tried to return to sleep. It wasn't even a whole minute later when I received a text.
'Where the hell are you?'
And again it was Keith. What a douchebag, not even "how are you" or perhaps "I'm sorry", so I decided to play along with his attitude.
'Somewhere I'll be appreciated.' I replied shortly
'Your Father can't hide you forever, you're not a part of his pack anymore.' He wrote back
'I'm not at the Silver Night, besides leave me be. Haven't you said enough yesterday?'
'So immature. By running away you only prove my point. But fine, you want to be left alone I won't bother you anymore. Stay safe "Luna"'
Making fun of my title made me only angrier if that even was possible. I got dressed and checked out of my room. I decided to get coffee and some breakfast at the nearby diner. Nothing fancy though. What was I expecting in the middle of nowhere.
I sat by an old scratched table thinking what I should do now.
It was clear that I couldn't join any other Pack if even my father couldn't provide shelter for me. I'm not fit to live my life as some dirty Rogue either and with Alpha blood within me becoming a wild animal won't be the case either way. So that leaves me only the human world. Yes, that was a reasonable idea, but where should I go? I couldn't picture myself in a village or small town that's for sure. So it leaves me in a big city, but which one? I would love to live someplace warm and sunny like Florida or California. Hmm, California, maybe I'll give L. A. a chance.
I smiled to myself thinking it's a great idea. It's far enough from Keith so I won't go back as soon as I'll start missing him and it's full of interesting people like movie stars and writers. So that's the perfect place for me. I got up, paid my bill and hit the road.
My way to happiness was long and gave me space to think over my last 24 hours. I still couldn't believe that one person who was supposed to love me the most and be my other half treated me like he did.
HE, Keith, my so called Mate.
I felt tears building in my eyes so I decided to distract myself from all those awful thoughts and listened to some music. Singing along with my radio I made a promise to myself to never cry because of him again.
It was past noon when I arrived in Los Angeles. I felt like a Pretty Woman, minus being a p********e, but I was positive that my happy ending was just around the corner.
I decided to head straight to a real estate agency because finding my perfect home could take a while, so best is to start right away.
"Welcome to West shore real estate. My name is Maria. What can I help you with?" - came a voice of receptionist
"Hi, I'm looking for a new apartment."
"You're in the right place then Ma'am. Please have a seat and I'll call one of our agents over."
I sat down and looked through some magazines laying on a coffee table. After around five minutes the man introduced himself.
"Hello Miss, I'm Gabriel, and I'll do my best to find your new home. Please follow me to my office. I'll show you what we have to offer and if anything catches your eye we may drive there so you can check it yourself. Sounds good?"
"Hi Gabriel, I'm Cecilia and you offer actually sounds great. Lead the way then."
We entered a small but tasteful office and sat down. Gabriel looked at me as if his well trained eyes wanted to estimate my value. I gave him a playful smirk informing him that I know what he's up to. He returned a smile and started.
" Ok Cecilia, so what are we looking for? Place for one, for a couple, family? Do you prefer houses or apartments?"
"Hmm, I'm looking for a place for one, but a spare bedroom would be nice. I definitely prefer apartments."
"Ok, so two bedrooms - he tapped into his computer- what about location?"
"I depend on you in this one as I'm new to the City but near the ocean would be nice I suppose."
"Ok, so I have 4 propositions meeting your requirements. Have a look and tell me do you like any of them."
I went through the pictures and in the first three there was nothing I liked, but the last one. Wow that was something. Big windows gave the interior as much light as possible. Master bedroom with separate bathroom and walk in closet. Kitchen was not too big but had everything I needed. Living room had a light grey comfy couch, flat screen TV and glass coffee table. Guest bedroom was small but the bed looked comfortable.
"Gabriel, I'd like to see this one." - I said pointing to the pictures.
"Ah yes, I see you know what's best. Alright let's go then."
He took his car and I drove mine. We stopped at a nice neighborhood where I could see many young people, some even with babies. We entered a modern looking building and took the elevator to the fourth floor which in this case was the top. Gabriel opened white doors with a sign 4A on it.
"Ok, so here we have a living room with a view to the park… Here we have a kitchen, and my favourite double door fridge… Here is a guest bedroom… guest bathroom… And finally the master's bedroom" - told me Gabriel while I followed him around.
"I must say that pictures don't give this place its justice."
"Haha, that's true." - he laughs
"Ok, I'll take it."
"Wow, that was fast. Ok, rent is 2000 $ per month. And I have all the documents with me so we may sign it right away."
We closed the deal and Gabriel left me in my new home. Wow Home. I will be happy here, I'm sure of it.
