Labor
The girls on the basketball team patted me on the back for taking the winning shot at the game tonight. My best friends Tima and Angela ruffling my hair and began to get dress. I chuckled a the two girls being idiots. My phone ringing broke us out of our playful banter. I picked it up and seen it was my mom. I picked it up and put it to my ear. "Hey, mo-" I was cut of by my mother's doctor. "Jimila, get to the hospital now! Your mother is going into labor!" She yelled through the phone. It was loud enough for Tima and Angela to hear. Tima grabbed her keys and we ran to the parking lot.
When we finally reached the hospital, I jumped out the car and ran to the receptionist desk. "What room is Raven Washington?!" I blurted out. "Room 206." She answered. I ran up the stairs to the second floor and looked for 206. When I finally reached it there was my mother screaming in pain and agony. I walked over to her and wiped the tears off her face. "It's okay mommy. I here." I whispered in her ear and held her hand. She smiled up at me. Hair a mess and sweat pouring down her face. She always looked beautiful to me. "Thank you Jamila. No one was there when I gave birth to you. So thank you for being here." She said to me. I smiled down at her and kissed her forehead. "I'm always here for you mom." I admit.
After twelve long painful hours my mom gave birth to a healthy beautiful baby girl. When she finally calmed down we were finally able to take a good look at her. A tuff of inky black hair sat on top of her head and her Tawny brown skin tainted red from all the screaming she was doin. My mom allows me to name her. I smiled down at her as she softly snores. "Welcome to the world Nubia Layla Washington." I mumbled. I turned to my mother she had a sad look on her face. "Jimila, I want to go home pack all yours and Nubia's things and fly to Tokyo Japan. I have a friend of there that's going to help you. Raise Nubia like your own. never tell her about me or your father. Give her a good childhood." She cried. I nodded my head and left to pack our stuff.
It's been three weeks since my mom gave birth to Nubia. I woke up at 4:00 am and got dress. I put on some black Nike sweats and a black crop top. I put on my black airforces and walked to the other side of my room. I peeked into Nubia's crib and there laid Nubia's looking around. I gently picked her up and put her in a black shirt with 'mommy is my bestie.' writen in gold, black leggings with gold roses inprint, and black socks. I put a black headband on her head with a gold bow in the front. I wrapped a blanket around her and walked to the car. I buckled her in and drove to the airport.
When we made it to the airport it was already 5:20. I looked through the diaper bag and see if I got everything.
I sat on the plane with a sleeping Nubia in my lap. I bounced my leg up and down nervous about the big move. Soon an elderly woman sat next to me and cood at Nubia. "Aww, what a cutie." I smiled the woman and we talked for the 13 hour flight.
