Slamming cupboards in the kitchen shook through the house, waking Kai from her sleep. She stretched in bed and turned to see Cal had already left. His scent lingered on the pillow beside her, bringing a satisfied smile to her face. The slamming of cupboards in the kitchen brought her back to the reason she woke up.    She grabbed her phone and read a text from Cal, asking her to come to the office when she felt rested enough.   Another slam forced a scowl on her face. She decided to get out of bed and find out what was going on.   Loraina and Ace’s door was still closed, so they were probably still asleep, and Ethan’s door was the only other one open.
