"Don't you think you need to get my family's consent before you can marry me?" He raised his eyebrows. "The Johns family might not have a good reputation, but you think there aren't any rules?"
She kept quiet.
This topic was far from what we were discussing. Weren't we just talking about how I should address him?
"I see."
Although it was already late at night and there were few people in the hospital, Nelly felt awkward being carried around like this.
"Why don't you put me down first? I can walk on my own."
Lennon gave her a sidelong glance. "Shut up."
She pouted. "I'm just trying to be nice."
"What did you just say? Say it again."
"Even if ordinary people don't recognise you, you are still a famous person. If someone sees you walking around with a woman in your arms, who knows what gossip they might spread about you? I'm just concerned about your reputation."
He stared at her. "In this case, should I also be grateful for your concern?"
"You're welcome. Just put me down."
Lennon glared at her.
She pursed her lips and said nothing more.
Oh well, she still felt uneasy when he glared at her.
Lennon carried her back to the car, put her in the passenger seat, and drove the car off.
On the way, Lennon said, "My grandfather is quite stubborn, but my grandmother is more easy-going. So, don't be impertinent in front of my grandfather tomorrow."
"Okay." She pursed her lips.
"Also, make a list of what you want for the marriage. I'll get someone to prepare it for you."
She looked at him. "I don't want anything."
He sneered at her. Was it so? Other women tried their best to get involved with him in order to get something, but she didn't want anything?
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure," she said in a firm tone. "I don't need anything. In addition, I'll sign a prenuptial agreement with you. You can set a validity date for our marriage. If you want to divorce after that, I won't dispute, and I won't take a single penny from you."
If she could confirm by then, that the cause of her father's death had nothing to do with Damine Group, she naturally had no reason to use his money.
But even if her father's death was really related to Damine Group, how could she spend such dirty money? She felt disgusted.
Lennon's expression became a little more serious. "Divorce? Ha, Nelly, you've had this all thought through, haven't you?"
"I just want to assure you, that you need not worry about getting married to a woman who is after your money."
Lennon was silent for a moment, looking thoughful and serious. What on earth was her motive behind all this?
As his car was heading to the hotel, Nelly hurriedly said, "I should go back to the studio apartment."
"What's your relationship with Shawn?" He asked, ignoring her request.
"We're friends."
"Is there friendship between men and women?"
"Shawn and I are really just friends." Her gaze at him was steadfast. "We grew up together."
"Humph."
His tone made her uncomfortable.
"Have you been deceived by a woman before, Lennon? Why are you so sceptical?"
He gave her a sidelong glance.
Thinking that his expression was because of how she called his name directly, Nelly pouted and said, "I asked you earlier how I should address you. It was you who changed the subject."
"Why would a womaniser like Shawn, just be friends with a young and beautiful woman like you?"
It turned out that he was unhappy about this.
Nelly moved closer to him and chuckled. "That sounds like a compliment."
He sniggered and said, "Don't try to change the topic."
She sat upright and laughed. "Shawn and I are indeed friends. He is not my type, nor am I his cup of tea. Between us, perhaps we're more like a sister and younger brother than just friends. We can leave one another, but we will always remember to take care of each other, hope that the other is well, and lend a hand when in need."
"Younger brother? Are you older than him?"
"Yeah, by two and a half months." She shrugged. "I won't date a man younger than me. That's my principle."
Lennon raised his eyebrow in reply. "I don't care what your principle is. You just need to remember that I won't allow my woman to look at other men."
A man's possessiveness was terrible. Sure enough, it was.
She only had a one-night stand with him. They aren't even married. And yet, he was already calling her "my woman"?
"What if I 'accidentally' looked at other men?"
He slowly parked the car at the roadside, and locked eyes with her. "What did you just say?"
His serious gaze made her hesitate. She must have been crazy. Why did she say such a thing? She shook her head. "Nothing."
He unfastened his seat belt, pushed the back of her seat down, and leaned across onto her.
She was so nervous that she clenched the seat belt in front of her. "Hey, what are you doing? I'm just kidding. The doctor said I shouldn't do anything reckless in my current condition."
