Chapter 5: Running Away

Lotus’ POV

It has been almost two weeks now. I am living here in the packhouse of Blood Stone Pack. I became good friends with Adeline. She is kind. I could never imagine that I could find someone like her in this pack. I always thought that this was a pack of murderers. Probably not all of them.

It's been two weeks, and I haven’t talked to my husband since our last encounter at his office. I have hardly seen him around. Wherever I did, he was with that slut. I kept helping Adeline with her cooking. There was not much for me to do. My days became lame. I thought I could join the pack warrior. After all, I have been training since I was ten before I shifted. Werewolves usually experience their first shift when they are thirteen or fourteen. Very few shape-shifts at twelve, and I was one of them.

After breakfast, I talked to Alex about joining pack warriors in training. I walked out of the house using the back door and went to the area near the jungles where they train the warriors. I saw Alex there, monitoring their moves. I went near him, and he turned towards me.

“Alex, I was wondering if you have a moment to talk,” I asked him politely.

“Give me a minute, Lotus,” he smiled.

I nodded and walked towards the woods. I waited for him there. This is the same place where I asked Alex about leaving this pack. I never expected Damien to react in that way last time.

“Hey Lo, tell me what’s going on? Is everything ok?” my thoughts of the chain broke with Alex’s voice. We became close friends after my last encounter with my husband. If I require something, I used to ask him. After all, I am his ‘distant relative’.

“Alex, I was thinking of joining the pack warriors in training,” I said directly.

Alex looked at me like I had grown two heads. He frowned his eyebrows and said,” You were thinking of what?”

“Joining the other warriors for...”

“I already heard you, Lotus.” Alex cut me off,” Are you crazy? It’s not a piece of cake. And it’s the alpha who gives permissions for all these things.”  

“Okay, then can you talk to him about that?” I asked him again politely.

“No way! I don’t want to be dead any time soon, Lotus. I know him very well. I know the answer you are about to receive. I am not with you in this matter.” Alex said, crossing his hands to his chest. I kept silent, staring at him with my puppy dog eyes.

“No Lotus, a big no from my side as well. You are such a little thing. Have you ever seen the size of our female warriors? They will roast you in no time.” He said again, trying to convince me.

‘Did he just insult us? I can roast this beta in no time. He knows that, right?’ My wolf seems to be angry, so am I. Is he kidding me? I am an alpha’s daughter.

“If you don’t want to talk to him, then I will. I don’t need your help. I am not scared of him, unlike you.” I yelled at him. He looked shocked. I didn’t wait for his reply and stepped away.

“Lotus, stop.”, I heard Alex shouting.

“Lotus”, I heard him again. I didn’t stop walking. I entered the packhouse and strode towards Damien’s office.

“Don’t be stubborn!” I heard him again by the time I reached his office. I knocked on the door.

“Come in”, I heard Damien’s voice. I looked at Alex. His eyes were pleading with me not to go inside. I walked in and shut the door on his face. I turned around. I saw Damien sitting in his usual place behind a new table. I wonder when he bought it. He was wearing a black half sleeve t-shirt which hugged his body perfectly. His hand muscles were moving with every movement of his hands. His hair was dishevelled. His lips were a little apart. Oh, I so wanted to kiss those.

“Are you done checking me out?” I heard him saying. Oh no! I got caught staring at him. I was so embarrassed. I can bet my cheeks were red. I looked down. He chuckled.

“You don’t have to be embarrassed, kitten. After all, I am your husband.” He said in a husky tone. Husband? Really? Do you even think we share that relation?

“Well, do you need something?” he asked me softly.

I almost forgot the reason for mine being here. I looked towards him again. This time only his eyes so that I don’t get distracted again.

“I was hoping, like, I mean” I paused and thought how I should put it in words.

“You were hoping?” he asked, looking into my eyes tilting his head.

“If you can give me permission to train with other warriors...”

“So that you can get in touch with other males? NO,” he retorted.

“But there are other female warriors. I have seen them training separately as well.”, I said in protest.

“NO. If you are done talking, please leave. I have other work to do.”, his voice was bitter this time; all emotions were gone from his eyes. I walked towards the door with a heavy heart. Why is he like that? He was so warm in the beginning, but then he was so cold. He is a demon.

I went out of his room and saw Alex standing there.

“Are you ok?” he asked me out of concern. I didn’t bother to reply and walked straight towards the kitchen. I saw Adeline there. I went there and hugged her; a tear escaped from my eye.

“Lo, are you alright?” she asked, hugging me back. “Talk to me, Lo. What’s the matter?” she asked again softly. I couldn’t hold myself anymore.

“I wanted to be a warrior. I have been training since I was ten. I went to Alpha to ask for his permission.” I stopped after that.

“Oh, sweetheart, don’t cry. It's ok. Life always doesn’t give us what we need.” She consoled me. “Now be a good girl and show me your sweet smile.” I smiled at her words. She reminds me of Evalyn. I miss her.

“Lo, why don’t you go for a run in the woods? It will be nice for you.” She said again.

Yes, I also need some alone time with my wolf. Besides, I haven’t let her out since I got here.

“Just take permission from alpha once, as it is customary here.” She informed me. I nodded and offered her a smile, “Thank you, Adeline.”

“In the meantime, I will also go grocery shopping. I will get some ice cream for you.” She smiled, and I left.

I walked towards Damien’s office again. When I reached in front of his office, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I cry out in pain. I open the door without knocking. I was hoping to get his help. I don’t know what was wrong. I was holding the door with one hand, and another hand was holding my stomach. I couldn’t believe what was waiting inside.

I saw Cersei sitting on Damien’s lap, wearing almost nothing. Damien was holding her on her waist. They were kissing. So intimately. I felt another pain in my heart. It was like somebody stabbed me with silver. My wolf howled in pain. The moment that door was opened, they stopped and looked at me. My legs felt so weak. I grip the door for support. A tear rolled down my cheek. I couldn’t bear it anymore.

“Please pardon me, alpha, for my intrusion,” I said in a very feeble voice and didn’t wait for any reply. My pain subsided. And I ran towards the forest. I transformed into my wolf tearing apart my clothes, and ran.  

 I don’t know which way I was going. My wolf and I both were in pain.

‘Why is it so painful? He is not even our mate!’ I asked my wolf. She howled. Her voice echoed into the woods. We both were in pain.

‘I don’t know. He is not ours.’ She howled.

We both were silent, and she was picking up her speed. She was running faster and faster. I don’t know how long we will run. Finally, we reached a river. I went down to the river and drank water. This place was beautiful. After the run, I was much calmer. I sat on the riverbank, putting my head on my paws. My wolf was white. I was not that big, but I was a fast runner.

Suddenly I sense another wolf. No, wait, there are two of them. I turned my head and took a defensive position. I saw a two-man coming towards the riverbank. They looked at me, and one of them said, “Lotus, is that you?” How did they know my name? Do I know them? I don’t remember them. That wolf said again, ” We need to go back to the packhouse as soon as possible. Alpha thought you ran away, and he is furious.”

He thought I ran away? Was he furious? Oh no. That does not sound good. I sprinted and didn’t wait for them. They fall behind. I followed my instinct and reached for the packhouse. I can sense the disturbance inside the packhouse. I ran towards the back door and found some clothes there. I transformed and wore a shirt and a pair of shorts. Terrible sounds were coming from the drawing area. I ran towards that. I felt like a tornado hit that place. Everything was broken.

“What do you mean they lost track of her? Do you know how dangerous it can be? If something happens to her, I swear you will be the first one to die,” Damien was pinning a man holding on his throat.

“Alpha, please calm down. Else you will kill..” Alex tried to say something, but Damien slapped him with his other hand and yelled at him, “FIND HER NOW.”

I didn’t know what to do. Quickly, I ran towards Damien and placed a hand on his shoulder. He turned towards me immediately. His eyes soften instantly. He let that mango and held me tight on my waist, and inhaled my scent. Then he grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the stairs.

Alex, who fell because of his slap, is standing now looking at me. He looked so scared. I can sense everyone in that room is looking at me. I saw sympathy in their eyes.

“Alpha, please let me go”, I whispered. He didn’t answer. He tightened his grip. I tried to release my hand, ” Alpha, you are hurting me.”

He didn’t answer and dragged me to his office. He locked the room without letting my hand go.

I was scared at that moment.

“You are hurting me. Please leave my hand.” I said again. This time he suddenly pulled me into his chest and hugged me tightly.

“Oh, Kitten, I thought I lost you,” he said. His voice was painful. “ I was so scared”, he said again. He rubbed his nose on my neck. He took deeper breaths to inhale my scent again and again. I can sense his muscles are relaxed now. My wolf was happy. His embrace was so warm. I felt tingles running through my entire body. He again tightens the hug. I was so confused by his reaction. But he was choking me with his hug. If he tightens his grip anymore, I am sure I can hear the sounds of bone cracks.

“You are choking me, Alpha”, I said with great difficulty.

He immediately released me and held me on my waist loosely. “Are you hurt? Where have you been? I am so sorry” I can see the concern in his eyes. His warm breaths were touching my face. Did the alpha demon apologise to me?

“I just went for a run. I didn’t shift in a while, and my wolf was getting restless. I came to inform you, but then I saw,” I paused, and I looked towards the walls, “I mean you were busy.”

“Look into my eyes, Kitten”, he husked. I looked into his eyes again. I saw some different emotions this time. He placed his forehead gently on mine. “ I saw you entering the room before holding your stomach. Were you hurt?”

Did he notice that? Did he notice my pain? I couldn’t answer him.

“Tell me, kitten. Are you alright?” This time his nose is touching mine. My wolf was so relaxed.

“I am fine,” I whispered.

He smiled and pressed his lips onto mine. He sucked my lower lips gently. I was in shock. Then suddenly, he pulled me closer to him, and I gasped. He took advantage and pushed his tongue inside my mouth. He tasted every inch of my mouth with his tongue. It was deep, passionate, gentle, full of love. I couldn’t respond at first. Then my lips moved with his in sync. Our tongues danced inside my mouth. I can feel thousands of butterflies inside my stomach. I hold on to his neck and deepen the kiss. I don’t know how long we were there in that situation. Then I pulled back. I was panting. Did I just kiss this man? I was so embarrassed. I turned away from him to hide my face.

He held me on my waist again and pulled my back to his chest. “Why are you so shy, kitten? I am your husband, remember?” he said huskily in my ear. I can feel his warm breath on my shoulder again. I felt like I needed to change this subject. It is going out of my hands.

I pulled away from him and looked him into his eyes. Then I asked, ” Why did you beat that man? Why did you slap Alex? And why did you break all the stuff?”

“Because I thought you ran away. I thought I lost you”, He sighed. He looked guilty. Is that all? Well, I am not satisfied with his reason. He beat someone up and slapped his beta because he thought I ran away? Why would he do that? Why would anyone do that?

 He cupped my face, “you do not know what you mean to me, Kitten.” He smiled. He kissed my forehead gently. “Do me a favour. Please go with Alex and buy some furniture, will you?” he asked me politely.

I smiled at him and nodded. “I should go now. I have to change my clothes.” I said and left the room.

I went straight into my room and processed what just happened. We kissed! I kissed someone for the first time in my life. Wasn’t I supposed to save it for my mate?

‘His wolf likes us. I communicated with him.’, my wolf said. ‘He was furious, thinking that we were not safe,’ she continued.

‘Probably. But someday, we will find our mate.’ I sighed.

‘I know. This is getting complicated.’ My wolf agreed, ‘Until then, we have to stay, remember?’

‘Until then!’ I repeated after her.
