The seventeenth Farrell had been speechless when he had heard the word suicide coming from those who had been nearby. Meanwhile, Alex, who had been initially silent, had begun to continue his story without waiting for Farrell's response. Or rather Alex had known that Farrell couldn't respond much after hearing the word suicide.
"Actually she didn't tell me. I was just curious because I repeatedly heard strange sounds from Kaira's room. Last night I tried to get into her room because her voice was getting louder from the corridor. It turned out that Kaira was delirious. When I tried to calm her down, suddenly she was crying but still not awake. And… she said she wanted to suicide while could not stop sobbing."
After Alex had paused for a few seconds in his own words while trying to remember last night's scene, he had continued, “Kaira has never cried in front of me. But maybe she's been crying in her room alone all this time and I don't know. How can I not understand it? How can I get Kaira to tell me what she's thinking so I can lessen her burden? How to be a responsible big brother?”
"How about we find out for ourselves first the reason that could make her like that?"
Farrell could only give an opinion as neutral as possible without following Alex's thoughts which had been starting to branch everywhere. Practical solutions had been taken by Farrell to avoid the risk of wrong answers
"Do you know that Kaira won't talk at all if she feels uncomfortable in certain situations? Since childhood she did not talk much except with her own family. Never even talk to strangers at all. Since Kaira entered elementary school, almost every day I looked for Kaira's whereabouts at school because she could suddenly disappear. The teachers said that she could not be questioned at all and made them in trouble. Therefore Kaira attended school from home throughout elementary school. Mom and Dad thought Kaira was just being late for socialization at such a young age.
“But one by one the members of our big family said that Kaira should not be left at home all the time. If she can't socialize, then Kaira must be forced to meet people. At first I didn't understand. But now I can imagine how miserable it must be for a child like Kaira to force herself to speak in front of other people.
“During junior high school, the principal had been persuaded by my parents to accept the existence of Kaira, who had the privilege of not being asked in class. She only spoke to one trusted teacher and one good friend who was willing to stay silent for a long time and accompany Kaira all day long. But when Kaira entered senior high school, the two of them were no longer beside Kaira. The incident when Kaira entered elementary school repeated itself. I often dropped out of class because the teachers told me about Kaira missing. Until one day I saw an incident where she petrified like a statue while all his classmates were shouting at her in class.”
“The incident where you shouted back at all the students in that class?”
"Yes. Since then everyone has called me sister complex. I have absolutely no problem. But Kaira closed herself more and more after the incident. Even to me too.”
"Does Kaira still experience it often after that?"
“After that case I told my father and all the children who shouted at her in class were immediately called by the teacher. Since then not a single student in her class has dared to speak to Kaira."
“I just found out everything about Kaira right now. Besides the incident you shouted at the first-year students and your name was immediately famous in high school."
“At first I thought I could sort it all out myself. But hearing Kaira wanted to suicide, I felt like I couldn't do anything.”
The word suicide again had shook Farrell's feelings. Alex had said that one word in a relaxed tone-albeit with a gloomy face-while the person sitting across from him immediately had needed to close his eyes to suppress the discomfort.
“Kaira can draw a beautiful palace when she is seven years old. I'm sure she has a very broad imagination. She has built her own world in her head and is ready to be poured into painting after painting. How is that world? Honestly, I'm really curious."
“How do you find out about that world?” asked Farrell without expecting that his question would make him regret it seven years later.
An applause from dozens of people in the meeting room had interrupted Farrell's thoughts. The presenter has finished presenting. The MC has taken over the event to continue the question and answer session. At that time Farrell wanted to leave the room as soon as possible. He needed time to be completely alone as he remembered exactly the conversation between himself and Alex seven years ago. But Farrell couldn't stand up right away because it could turn all attention to him. It would point to Farrell as if he wanted to ask something again.
"Yes ... please madam in red dress to ask questions."
Right after the person appointed by the MC started talking, Farrell got up from his seat and left the meeting room immediately. Not many people realized that Farrell had left the room because all the focus was on the MC and the person asking the question. But Leona could immediately look behind her when she heard the sound of the door opening and closing. Then she immediately realized that her twin was not in the same room with her.
"Al…. You won't really find out about the world from Kaira's mind right?" muttered Farrell to himself as he walked toward the elevator.
Farrell needed to calm himself from all the people who could disturb him during the day. No one would enter the wrong meeting room. Or no subordinates would remind him to attend the meeting. And Farrell's choice for that situation was a lounge bar which was on the eleventh floor.
WIC company's office is in an office building together with other companies. Floors five to seven belong to the WIC company and everyone who works on those three floors must know Farrell Gypsyworth as the son of the owner and CEO of the WIC company. But when outside the WIC company area, Farrell's face will be as foreign as an employee applying for a company. And Farrell was in need of a place where he wouldn't be bothered by anyone he knew right now.
A light blue cocktail was being moved from the tray onto the table in front of Farrell. After doing his job, the lounge bar waiter smiled at Farrell as he lowered his head. Leaving a cocktail with the customer who ordered it.
Even though his order came less than five minutes after ordering, Farrell hadn't had a cocktail in front of him in a while. He just sat in silence in the lounge bar with seats that lead to an outdoor swimming pool lined by glass.
Farrell looked at the swimming pool which seemed calm because there was no one in it. And his mind seemed to sink into the pool. Enter into a wide and deep medium that was not visible at the bottom from the surface.
There was no presence of a financial manager for WIC company at the introduction to new employees that afternoon. Of course Leona, as the person closest to the financial manager, Farrell Gypsyworth, has repeatedly contacted her twin but couldn't. Leona had even realized from the start that Farrell would not return to the meeting room after leaving the room. But Leona tried to ignore this intuition, considering Farrell was not someone who carelessly forgot about his work schedule.
Instead of trying to maintain Farrell's presence in the meeting room, Leona was more worried about her twin's condition. So not only a Gypsyworth who left the meeting room, the other Gypsyworth also followed in his brother's footsteps to leave the meeting room. One person she first spoke to when she was anxious was her lover, Mio. Of course.
"Honey… I feel Farrell is very strange today," said Leona after her phone call was answered with an affectionate call.
"What do you mean? Eh… isn't he always weird?"
"Honey! Please… I'm serious."
"Yes, my dear. So what happened. Please tell me slowly."
"Farrell and I met up with Alex today."
"And those two weirdo got together… Okay I'm sorry honey. Then what's up with Alex?" With just a loud sigh from Leona, Mio stopped his joking and changed his relaxed tone to a serious one.
"Alex meets Lakelynn..."
"Wait a minute…. I've started listening to you but I get dizzy when too many people are involved."
"Me and Farrell were afraid Alex would hit the link you talked about yesterday because Lakelynn told Alex to save Kaira."
Mio tried to slowly repeat Leona's words. He said a long sentence with a pause between a few words. And after a few minutes of Mio trying to understand Leona's words, he finally shouted excitedly.
"Okay. So what's the problem?"
"The thing is, of course Alex can't press that link, honey! He can't leave his current life in a coma."
"So you have believed what I said, right?"
"I don't want to fight with you about it right now."
"Okay…. Okay…. But to be honest I still don't understand what the problem is. Alex has been a curious person from the start. If someone I know would click on that link, I'd already imagine Alex would be the right person. Besides me of course But I'm not going in without you, honey. Take it easy."
"Honey… Alex has changed. He has so many responsibilities in his life that he can't just walk away from them."
"Isn't he going to make a lot of money if he can save Kaira? All this time Alex didn't want to be given money by all of us because he wanted to try from his own hard work. So the problem will actually be solved with this, right?"
Leona took a deep breath. She couldn't really blame Mio's words because she had also questioned Farrell about how stubborn Alex was who didn't want to be helped by his friends. It seems that regarding Alex's stubbornness, even Leona can't defend Alex any further. So Leona tried to tell me something else that was the point of her and Farrell's worries.
"Alex's mother might suicide if she is left depressed alone for too long. Alex must stay by her mother's side."
