Farrell's worried face turned into annoyance after left Alex's house. Farrell was even more annoyed when he came down the stairs and met a resident of the flat who was spitting on the stairs at random. With a look of disgust and a hand holding his mouth from speaking, Farrell quickly descended two steps of stairs at once. He forgot that Leona was wearing high heels so she couldn't keep up with her twin's pace.
"Farrell!" shouted Leona when the two Gypsyworths were already in the parking lot but more than ten meters apart.
Farrell turned around and saw his twin struggling to walk quickly towards him. Feeling guilty for leaving Leona, Farrell reversed his direction only to walk hand in hand with Leona. Farrell's face still looked annoyed and made Leona couldn't blame Farrell for leaving her.
"Yes, it's true what Mrs. Gabrielle said, Alex should have applied to the WIC company without a test. I'm sure Alex can do better than the other factory people. And he doesn't need to be in this weird environment, "said Farrell, inviting a pat on the shoulder from his twin.
Even though she herself couldn't stand the condition of Gabrielle Lynx, Alex's mother, or the very shabby condition of the flat, Leona didn't want to respond to Farrell's emotions except for a light pat. A Farrell who was usually calm in all conditions, was now babbling non-stop as he walked. And this condition which made Leona became patient to only hear her twin's rant.
Even when he was in the car and ready to drive, Farrell still couldn't calm his mind. Farrell had probably fifty times tried to call Alex but couldn't get through. And before hitting the starter button, Farrell tried to do what he had done. Hoping that maybe he would get a different result for the umpteenth try.
"Argh! Still unreachable!"
Farrell half threw the cellphone into the case located near the gear shifter. It was clear that he couldn't get back to Alex. With motions that still showed annoyance, Farrell started the car's engine by pressing the button next to the LCD screen. Then the movement of his hands was continued by holding the steering wheel and gear shifter, coupled with the movement of the feet pressing pedals. The car drove off and left the parking lot of the flat where Alex and his mother lived.
"Why did he just disappear like that?" were the last words Farrell spoke before silence accompanied Farrell and Leona throughout the car ride.
Although Farrell didn't tell the destination of the car, Leona already knew that it was Donati's house when the car passed the office where she and Farrell worked. Leona immediately imagined the faces of the people she and Farrell would meet. Not a member of the Donati family, but Lakelynn Heliodor, as the person responsible for Alex's disappearance.
Farrell's sedan stopped at Donati's door. Like when Alex stopped his motorbike this afternoon, a guard walked towards the gate to see the guests who had arrived. Farrell immediately removed the safety belt and got out of the car.
"I would like to see Miss Lakelynn Heliodor."
"Sorry Mister. Miss Lakelynn didn't say she was waiting for someone."
"You could tell a friend from Alexandre Lynx wants to talk to her."
"Sorry Mister. But you have to…”
Before Farrell was getting more and more annoyed at not being accepted as a guest by the Donati's guard, a horn sounded so loud in Farrell's ears. When Farrell turned around, he saw a bright red sports car turning its headlights towards him. The sky was starting to get dark, making the lights look dazzling even though it was blocked by a single car, namely Farrell's car.
As if not wanting to let anyone stand in her way, the driver of the red sports car honked again and again. Not only Farrell who was disturbed by the behavior of the driver, Leona immediately got out of the car to approach the car behind him. Both Farrell and Leona knew exactly who was going to do something extreme enough.
Just as Farrell was standing beside Leona, the window of the red sports car rolled down. A blonde haired girl looked up and looked at the two people who were right next to the car she was driving one by one. The girl's face bore a disdainful look with a bent eyebrow and one of her lips lifted. Casually, the girl pressed the button in the middle of the steering wheel with her index finger so that for the third time there was a very loud horn sound. But this time the sound didn't stop for a few seconds until the person pressing the horn was satisfied. Making both Farrell and Leona gave a very annoyed look.
“Unfortunately there are no regulations restricting deaf people from driving. But the dim light can't get you out of the way, are you blind too? Ah apparently not either. If you are deaf and blind, you should not come near me."
“Lakelynn, what did you do to Alex?” asked Farrell trying not to respond to all the frontal and sarcasm words from the girl named Lakelynn.
"Wait a minute. I feel like I never knew you. Why do you take people's names so casually?”
Leona who had been silent for a while while watching the conversation between Farrell and Lakelynn finally got impatient and shouted the word “Hey” half-screaming. Before Leona could express her emotions with words other than “Hey”, Farrell lifted his hand to Leona as a sign for Leona to hold back.
“We are friends of Alexandre Lynx. He has not been contacted since this afternoon so we are worried about his condition,” said Farrell, taking over the conversation again before Leona continued her anger.
"Maybe he doesn't want to be contacted by you."
"If he didn't want to be contacted by us, he shouldn't have told us he'd be seeing you this afternoon."
Lakelynn looked thoughtful with her eyes upturned for a moment before she finally looked back at Farrell with a cold stare. "I don't want to answer your question. So get rid of your car right now before I call the guards to force you into the car by force.”
“You told him to press the forbidden link, didn't you?” asked Farrell hastily before Lakelynn rolled up the window fully. As Farrell expected, Lakelynn responded to his question. And the small response from Lakelynn had quite convinced Farrell that the answer was yes, without needing to get an answer from the person being asked.
"I don't need to answer your questions."
Just as the window pane reached the top frame, the horn sounded again. Farrell and Leona, who winced every time they heard a noise in their ears, immediately walked towards the car in front of Lakelynn's car. Before Farrell hit the gas pedal, a red car had already passed beside him and into the open gate.
Of course from the start Farrell didn't feel that his car was blocking Lakelynn's way because there was a space of one car beside his car to get into Donati's house. And all the behavior that Lakelynn showed was deliberately just to irritate Farrell and Leona. Farrell had anticipated this from the start, but still Lakelynn's behavior really annoyed him. However, the first person to express his emotions was not Farrell, but Leona who suddenly shouted in the car with a face full of annoyance.
"Aaaah! I really hate that girl!”
"If you showed annoyance in front of her earlier, she'd be even more happy."
“And we won't gain anything just by holding back our emotions like that… hey, Farrell?”
Leona called her twin's name after realizing that Farrell was showing a blank stare. Farrell's mind was replaying the conversation between him and Lakelynn. Once again Farrell confirmed confidence in the information he concluded then he told the girl beside him.
"When I asked about the forbidden link, I'm sure her face was shocked."
Leona's emotions immediately subsided after hearing Farrell's statement. Her feelings immediately turned into a little relief even though Leona didn't see what Farrell said for herself. However Farrell wouldn't have said it haphazardly if he wasn't quite sure of what he saw.
“So… Alex was convinced by that girl? Didn't he say he wouldn't just do it if he was told?"
"Yes. It seemed Lakelynn had said something to Alex that left Alex with no other choice. Or… Lakelynn has solved the problem that had made Alex not want to find his sister.”
"Mrs. Gabriel?"
"Yes, I just guessed that Lakelynn gave a solution about Mrs. Gabriel's condition. And I wonder if Alex's cellphone is also in Lakelynn's hands at this time. And maybe my number has been blocked by him."
"So actually Alex isn't avoiding us, but Lakelynn is the one who keeps us from meeting Alex?"
“I'm not too sure about this. But at least I'm pretty sure that in this house there is no Alex or anyone trying to find Kaira. At the very least nurses would be needed to check the condition of people who would go into a coma when they clicked on the link. But not a single vehicle was in the guest parking lot.”
Leona nodded because she felt Farrell's words made sense. Moreover, when the guard immediately closed the gate after Lakelynn's car passed, Leona thought that her and Farrell's presence without being able to enter Donati's house would not have any impact. Regardless of whether Farrell's words were true that there was no Alex in the house at the end of the uphill road in front of her, Leona chose to find out from another place and not from the girl who immediately gave off an annoying impression like earlier.
“We can ask Mio for help in finding out information that is hard to find.”
Leona's words invited a nod and a smile from Farrell. Then Farrell started to make movement with his hands so that the car went backwards before finally turning around in front of the closed fence.
