(Airport announcement: Flight 1901 ATLANTA three hours from Chicago to Miami is ready to departure. Passengers please…..)
I stood up from the seating area and made my way to the gateway, listening to the announcement. Something buzzed in my purse. I took out my phone and the caller id showed the name of my best friend since middle school. I picked up the phone and came across a shrilling voice of an angry woman….
“Rachel Davis where the f**k are you? I’ve been to your house and the housekeeper said you took your stuff and left. What is going on?”
I took a deep breath, “Relax Kylie, I’m fine. And yes, what the housekeeper said is true. I’m going to Miami.”
“But why so suddenly? What happened?” Kylie asked worried.
“I’ll call you once I land. Right now I’m checking in.”
“Okay, call me once you land. Bye. Take care.”
“Bye”
Phew! One more explanation on way I guess. I gave my ticket to the air hostess who showed me to my first class seat. It was mostly empty. Just two seats were taken. One on the very front was an old man, probably a business man. And the other one was younger than him, maybe in his mid-thirties. I took my seat near the window and switched my phone on the air-plane mode. The plane took off in about fifteen minutes. I looked outside the window and could see the city lights of Chicago blinking at me. Maybe bidding me goodbye. I sighed and rested my head on the headrest. I closed my eyes and the memories of last night’s events flashed in front of my eyes.
