Reaching over, he took her hand and brought it to his lips. "Hey, don't worry about your parents, okay? They'll come around."
"Before Christmas? I don't think so."
He squeezed her hand. "You have a new family. You have me, Jenny, Lucy. We're your family now, and we won't turn our backs on you." She smiled again, but it was sad. "Hayley and Michael know you love them. They know you care. But they also know that you are out of the nest now. You're the queen and that means that you have a duty to your pack. If your parents want to be stubborn idiots and not call their only child once in a while, then you shouldn't feel bad for not seeing them. It's a two-way street."
She sniffed. "That's what I don't understand. Mom has nothing against you, and yet, I don't even get one lousy text."
