The Siren's Song

TESS'S Point of View

As I walked back to my room the tears that were in my eyes began to flow down my face. I felt alone and scared. I knew he wouldn't want me but a small part of me needed to know. Now that I know he wants nothing to do with me I had to plan for the back up plan. 

First I needed to leave the pack and make my way to Redford Michigan to the house my mother has waiting for me. A few years ago when the hunters started coming at us full force she purchased a house and had it worked on. Not only is it ready for me to live in but it has a security system and a safe room with a hidden exit. 

Why did she choose Redford Michigan you might be asking. Well its close to Detroit and with so many people there near by it would be the last place they would look. Wolves and sirens need the wilderness and freedom of the open doors but if I'm with humans I will blend in. I just need to learn to be human. 

Once I was in the room I grabbed my bag I brought and began to walk out of the room when Ben stepped in front of me. I looked at him and as my heart started to beat faster I said, "what can I do for you?" 

"The alpha has sent me here to stop you from leaving." 

"Why?" 

"Only the goddess knows why," he said. 

His words hurt and I knew he could see the pain in my face because his expression changed from cold to soft. "I am not welcome by my father or my mate. It is best I leave." 

Ben didn't say anything but grabbed my arm and lightly pulled me into the room and shut the door. He looked at me as he let go of me and folded his arms over his chest, then said, "look. If you came here a few months ago I would have been thrilled to have you in my life. I would have protected you from those hunters but now I cant." 

I felt the tears started to form and the emotion following them well up in my throat. I cleared my throat, looked away and said, "so what changed?" 

Ben remained silent and I felt my sadness fade and instead anger replace it. How could my father and mate both reject me? How could the humans kill the only family i knew? How is any of this fair? 

As the questions poured in my head the power inside of me began to stir and I heard my wolf say, 'calm down.'

I ignored her and then she said, 'calm down or I will shift right here.' 

I took a deep breath and then released it, while closing my eyes. As I opened them I felt my anger diminish. 

"What was that about?" I heard Ben say. 

I looked at him and decided to ignore him. My question wasn't worth his time but I needed to release some of the energy I had built up on the inside. I needed to swim in the water and do the one thing I vowed never to do. Be a siren. 

As I walked towards the door Ben grabbed me and I felt the tingles from his touch run up and down my arm while my wolf purred in delight. "You can't go," he said. 

"I need to release the energy I just built up. I need to get into water." 

"You have a shower for that," he said causing me to laugh. 

"I need a lake not a shower. I am a water siren not a shower siren. Excuse me but I need to do what I have to do." 

I shook his hand off my arm and quickly left the room. As I walked away I could hear Ben behind me but I ignored him and walked faster. 

As I walked down the stairs and past the dinning room I was suppose to have breakfast in I could hear shouting between the alpha and my father. I wanted to go in there and just tell everyone to forget it but the negative energy would just feed into the state I was in. So I walked past the room and straight for the front door.  

As I walked outside I stopped for a moment and closed my eyes and thought about the water. I could see a lake not to far from here and began to walk in the direction of it. Ben was still behind me. I could smell and hear him walking. 

As I walked past pack members they looked at me weird but I did not care and after about fifteen minutes of walking I saw the lake and smiled. I turned around and said, "I suggest you leave." 

"Why?" Ben asked as he stopped in front of me. 

"Because I am a siren." 

"So," he said as he looked into my eyes. I could see want and need in them but reluctance. 

"My siren side could lure you into the water and kill you." 

Ben smiled and said, "well I am your mate. I don't think you will harm me. So ill stay right by the edge " 

I could tell he wasn't going anywhere and I just shrugged my shoulders and said, "your an idiot." And then I walked onto the top of the water. As I walked i held my palms towards the water and started to hum. The water started to come up towards me and surround me and soon it flowed around me. I allowed the siren part of me to take control and soon I was in the water. 

Since I wasn't a full blooded siren I looked different then the others of my kind. Yes I had a tail and scales while in the water but I had yellow eyes and wolf like ears. I was still beautiful and alluring. 

As I let in a big breath I decided to swim away from Ben and towards the center of the lake and began to sing. My song was not happy but one filled with sorrow.
