Ben's Point of View I walked away from the lake and as I walked into the forest I turned around and watched my mate and best friend. They seemed happy but as Rick pulled Tess closer to him suddenly she looked towards my direction causing my heart to flutter. I wanted to go to her but if I did I would lose so much. "goodbye," I whispered into the air and turned around, then walked away.  Two days have passed since I left the lake and all I have heard about was the paternity test from Layla and Rick. Layla was freaking out over the fact she might have an older sister and Rick just wanted Tess to be his.  I guess after I left they ended up kissing and when Rick told me that I had to keep my wolf from ripping him apart. I put a fake smile on as I tried my best to keep my wolf from coming out and when I could walk away from him I ended going out for a run.  I spent most of the night chasing rabbits and other creatures and that seemed to help my wolf calm down but he was still upset. He wanted Tess and I wanted her too but I could not risk losing my baby. Layla is use to getting her way and she will keep my child from me. I can't risk it.  'Paternity results are in. Come to my office," I heard Rick say through the mind link causing me to snap out of my thoughts.  'On my way,' I quickly responded as I got up out of the chair I was sitting in.  As I walked through the house I could smell Layla fruity scent and followed it to the room we decided would the nursery.  I stood in the doorway and watched as Layla was cleaning out the closet. "Hey babe," I said.  Layla turned around and smiled at me. "What's up?"  "Rick just linked me and the results are in."  Layla's smile fell as I said that and I walked over to her and brought her into my chest. "I know this is difficult but it will all work out."  "What will happen to my title if she is my sister. I will no longer be the next in line for gamma."  "Well if she is next in line that's okay because you will be beta female."  Layla pulled out of my embrace and said, "true but she knows nothing of our kind and pack."  "Valid points but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's go find out the results."  "Okay."  We walked out of the room and out of are apartment in the pack house. As we walked down the hall I grabbed her hand and brought it up to my lips.  "I love you," I said causing my wolf to growl at me.  "I love you to."  When we walked into the alphas office everyone was there including the doctor. "Mom," Layla shouted as she let go of my hand and went over to her mother.  Right before Layla and her mom could start talking Rick said, "since everyone is here let's get this over with." Everyone agreed and doc pulled an envelope off the desk and opened it. "Well Dallas it appears you are ninety nine percent a match. Tess is you daughter."  "Mother trucker," Layla yelled and she headed for the door. "How could you?" She screamed.  I grabbed her arm and she tried to pull away but I pulled her into my embrace. "It's going to be okay."  "No its not."  I looked at everyone in the room and everyone seemed to be in a weird emotional state. Tess was bitting her finger nails, Dallas was pale and his wife was angry. She had that look on her face while Rick was smiling.  "Now what happens?" Tess asked.  "Nothing. I will never claim you as my daughter," Dallas said with anger in his voice. He grabbed his wife's hand and they walked towards the door  Layla followed them leaving the doc, Rick,  Tess and I in the room.  I looked at Tess and she had tears in her eyes. I wanted to embrace her and comfort her but Rick beat me to it. He pulled her into his embrace and she cried into his chest. I fisted my hands and looked at him.  "It's okay beautiful. I know it hurts but you have a place here," Rick said.  We all stood there listening to Tess softly crying. I knew Dallas and his family would never welcome her with open arms but still didn't make seeing her like this any easier.  "Go and talk to Layla and her family. Tess will be staying with the pack."  "Yes alpha."  I looked at Tess one last time then left the room. I found Layla and her parents in there apartment bot to farm from mine.  "That alpha of ours better not allow her to take the gamma spot. I have been waiting years to retire until Layla was ready. I will not allow that to happen," Dallas said as I walked in.  "I know alpha Richard would never rush into anything without thinking it through. "  "Have you seen the way he looks at her? Ah I hate her so much."  'What a winner you chose to be with,' my wolf chimed in.  'Don't. My day is already stressful.'  I could feel my wolf rolling his eyes and I looked at the three people in front of me. How could they be so hateful to someone they didn't know?  'How can you chose them over her?' My wolf asked.  'I chose my child.'  'Keep telling yourself that. Whatever makes you feel better. '  'Enough.'  "Layla you need to calm down for the baby," I said. "Sit honey," Dallas said as he pointed to a baby blue chair.  Layla sat down and after awhile they stopped talking about Tess and began talking about the baby.
