“So much for avoiding the guy,” Mitch sighed, settling back in his tub. He’d thought he’d done a pretty good job of getting John out of his mind by shifting and going for a run. Then, when he’d been a hundred yards or so from his cave, his bear had smelled John’s presence. This had made no sense, so the bear had dismissed it and carried on fishing. However, the sensation had increased and became more urgent. Hearing a cry of alarm the bear had leapt out of the waves and bounded up the beach, fearful John was hurt or in danger. But on reaching the cave, the bear had discovered John was okay. The bear had decided to leave when John turned and their eyes met.
