My body trembled as I felt Julie's intense threat looming over me and my baby.
I was too drained to be scared, so instead, I slowly drifted to sleep. Let those two sort out their own issues.
I had no idea how much time passed before a gentle kiss on my forehead brought me back to consciousness. I slowly opened my eyes to find Isaac's face above me, gazing down with love.
"Mmm...Isaac?"
"It's Aleks," his voice rumbled softly.
My eyes flew open. "Aleks! You are here!" I sat up briskly.
He quirked his eyebrow up. "Was it Isaac that you were expecting? Should I be concerned?" he joked.
I shook my head emphatically. "No, definitely not. I'd informed him about the baby and he went ballistic, trying to break up with Julie and everything. And then Julie..."
