I watched in agonizing helplessness as they rushed Aleks inside the emergency room, the wheels of the gurney squeaking against the floor and leaving behind a gruesome trail of blood. I couldn't help but feel responsible for what had happened.
They found him vulnerable enough to attack him because he let his guard down with me.
He was exposed as a perfect target for their malicious attack. I could feel my entire body tense with fear and dread, but before I knew it, Isaac was there beside me, tightening his grip around me protectively. His deep voice boomed through the air as he roared, "What the hell happened" His voice filled with rage and concern.
"We were on a date and some people attacked us," I sobbed.
