Brook took a glance at her makeup one last time in the mirror. Flawless complexion, nude lipsticks, and perfect winged eyeliner. Check. She then sauntered towards her closet and settled on the most conservative outfit she had. White blazer and white office pants. All white classic. She put on her nude pumps, and she was ready to conquer the day.
She had an important meeting today, so she had to make sure to appear as professional as possible. This is her only chance to save her business, which was on the verge of bankruptcy.
She owned a wedding planner company named “Ohana Wedding”. She started this business with her husband Elliot around two years ago after they got married. Brook is obsessed with almost everything about the wedding. That’s why when they got enough money, this is the first business prospect she could think of.
Elliot has been an amazing husband by supporting her dream. He was all the woman could ever want in a husband… Supporting, caring, and most importantly, faithful. Brooke can’t imagine herself get married to a cheating man.
She knows exactly how it feels because her dad cheated on her mom while Brooke still in high school. Her dad cast Brook and her mom away from their house, only to live with his mistress. What an irony. Thank God Brooke had two supporters at that time, which are no other than her best friends. Elliot and Jackson.
It was all pure friendship between the three of them until someday… Elliot suddenly confessed his feelings for Brooke, and they ended up in a relationship. He proposed a year after they graduate, and she said yes to his proposal without any hesitation.
Jackson… As expected, he was selected as their best man at the wedding, but after that, they almost lose contact as they were all busy with their own business. The last time they spoke to each other was on thanksgiving, which is around six months ago.
Brooke thinks that it was the best decision she ever made in her life. Marrying her best friend and the only love in her life. Elliot Smith. Which is now still sleeping soundly on the bed. As their business going downfall, it also affects him that much. Sometimes, he would drink until he passed out. But it still won’t affect her feelings for him.
Brooke went over to their bed and gently stroked his hair. He stirred a bit then opened his eyes. “Good morning…” Brooke said with a smile. Elliot groans in pain as the headache get the best out of him. “You had another drink last night?” Brooke asked with a caring tone.
Even in his messy state, he was still somehow managed to look that handsome to her. Those soft dark blonde hair and perfectly sculpted facial features. Damn! She was crazy for him, even after two years of marriage.
“I’m sorry, Brooke…I shouldn’t drink that much.” He replied with a husky voice as he massages his temple. Brooke pursed her lips into a thin line. “That’s okay…I can understand.” She said. Elliot then circled his arms on her small waist.
He stroked his nose in the crook of her neck, inhaling her fresh scent. “You smelled good….” He said lowly. She instantly knew what he wanted. He wants to f**k. “Brooke, I need you now.” He whispered in her ears.
Brooke pushed him back a little. “Elliot…As much as I want to fulfill your desire, but we can’t do it now. I have to meet Mr. Darcy today, remember?” she said with a heavy breath. Elliot groans in disapproval, but then he’s back on attacking her neck with kisses. He always knew how to make her submitted to his every request.
“So you’re telling me my wife would rather meet with a bald and unattractive old man than accompanying me in the bed?” He said between his kisses. His voice was deep and sexy. Making her quiver on the inside. “Stop it, Elliot…You’re ruining my makeup. And I was supposed to be on my way now.” She then said, getting up from the bed with all the power she had left inside her.
“Okay…okay…But I’m coming with you to meet him,” Elliot said as he held back her hand, stopping her. She huffed as she looked at her watch. She wasn’t expecting him to accompany her today because he still had a bad hangover. She looked back at his eyes, which is not as bright as they used to be.
She always admired his deep blue eyes, but lately, he always looks down and sad. “Okay, but you only have five minutes….” Brooke said with a small smile playing on her lips. “Give me ten…We’ll use my car to go there. Don’t worry, we can still make it there on time.” He said as he landed a small peck on her lips.

Brooke was a little bit nervous about meeting Mr. Darcy. He was not a person that could be easily persuaded. She has met him once, and he bluntly rejected their last proposal in front of us. They need him to fund their company at least until they got the p*****t from their current customers.
Their money now wasn’t enough to keep the company running and paying for the staff’s salary. The business was very bad recently. Few customers even canceled using their service for some unknown reason. Right now, Mr. Darcy is the only person that could save their business.
Elliot parked his car in front of the café as she texted Mr. Darcy yesterday. From outside the window, she can see Mr. Darcy sitting by the window while sipping his espresso slowly.
She took a deep breath as Elliot grabbed her hand. Come on… You can do this, Brooke!
************
As they walked hand in hand, Mr. Darcy kept his eyes on them. Brooke felt all jittery from his unusual stare. She could never guess what’s inside his mind. She took a glance at Elliot, and he only smiled back at her with an assuring look, as if telling her that everything is going to be okay.
“Mr. Darcy…” Brooke greeted him, forcing a smile on her face. Her palms were sweaty. “You’re late by five minutes, Brooke…You’re wasting my time.” He replied sarcastically. Okay, so Brooke just found out that he was also moody. Elliot was fast to interrupt.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Darcy…You know the traffic in NYC is very bad.” He then said, telling some excuses. Mr. Darcy looked unpleased by their reason, but he chose to remain silent.
Brooke cleared her throat after ordering some coffee for both of them. “Umm…So here’s the thing, Mr. Darcy…The reason why we want to meet you is….” He raised his finger to her face, cutting her words. “You need money…Am I right?” He then said. Brooke swallowed her own saliva as she squeezed Elliot’s hand under the table.
“Yes...” She replied with a lowered face. Mr. Darcy fixed the position of his glasses in his nose. “Don’t you want to know why your customer ran away from using your service?” he then said again. Brooke was surprised as she lifted her face to meet his sinister smile.
Mr. Darcy’s eyes went from Brooke to Elliot. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Brooke asked him again. She was started to get an uneasy feeling about this. “Maybe your husband can explain it better for you.” He then said, crossing his arms in the front of his chest.
Brooke turned her head facing Elliot. She can’t understand. What’s that supposed to do with Elliot? Brook placed her hand on Elliot’s shoulder, waiting for his response. But then he got angry and got up from the chair.
“Mr. Darcy… Just cut to the case! Would you help us this time or not?” Elliot said, raising his voice. Brooke looked to the other table. Other people started to notice their fight. “Elliot, what are you doing? Sit down!” Brooke said lowly at him.
Mr. Darcy looked pleasantly amused by us. “Brooke, I think you have a right to know the truth…” he then said as he slid a piece of photo on top of the table.
Brooke’s eyes widened as she looked at the man inside the photo. It was her husband, Elliot, without a doubt. He was drinking at the bar with a woman. Brooke’s vision started to cloud with tears after seeing the second photo.
Elliot was on the bed naked with the same woman. What the hell is this? This can’t be true! Her Elliot…He couldn’t be?
“Your husband is cheating on you.” Mr. Darcy said with a sharp tone. This is the first time Elliot hurt her. The Elliot that she knew wasn’t like this. He even can’t stand seeing her got bit by a mosquito.
But now, the evidence was there. He can’t deny it. Brooke quickly wiped the tears from her cheek. “Elliot, please tell me that this isn’t you…” Brooke said softly.
Elliot was stilled like a statue. What bothers her the most is that he doesn’t even try to defend himself. Maybe he just simply doesn’t care anymore? How long had he been seeing that woman? Many questions popped into her mind.
Mr. Darcy stood from his chair. “Brooke, your marriage is a failure…This rumor had spread quicker than a virus, and I don’t want to waste my money investing in a failing company. This is a serious matter and can’t be settled with only money.” He said before he walked out of the café.
**********
Brooke was shaking in her own seat. She just can’t believe the fact that she just heard from Mr. Darcy. Above all other people, the one that caused her business to fail was her own husband, Elliot?
This just doesn’t make any sense to her. They both started this business together, but he crashed it in one night just because of some cheap-looking w***e. It makes her wonder, what has she done wrong?
After a while, she felt Elliot gently touched her shoulder. “Brooke…baby,” he said with so much regret in his voice. Brooke quickly swatted his hands away from her.
“Don’t you dare to baby me! I’m not your baby?!” She shouted angrily at him. She doesn’t care about what other people might think. She was deeply hurt by her own husband. Elliot grabbed her shoulders again, making her face him.
“Brooke, we can fix this together…” he said with a pleading tone. Brooke slapped him twice. “I’m done with you, Elliot! I want a divorce!?” She said before she ran out of the café.
