Jax POV
My throbbing forehead was the first thing I felt when I woke up. I pried my eyes open and gasped when I saw that I was locked up in some sort of basement.
Panic started to take over and I thrashed against the chains binding my hands to the wall. Tears flowed down my cheeks and my mind raced. I figured that I had been locked up by some serial killer abducting people from the trails of the Amwin mountains.
Then my eyes widened when I remembered something.
Wolves.
People turning into wolves.
They were chasing after me before I passed out.
Did they bring me here?
The questions swirled in my mind, and I cried silently hoping that no one would hear me.
No such luck.
My heart raced when a large muscular man in his late forties opened the door and walked inside. I stared at him, not daring to make a sound.
“What’s your name?” He asked, much more gently than I had expected.
“J-Jax.” I hiccuped, trying my best to stifle my sobs.
“Okay Jax.” He said calmly and walked closer to me. “Do you know how much trouble you’re in?”
“I don’t understand.” I replied. “Did I do something wrong? I’m sorry, I didn’t know…”
“It’s not about what you did.” He replied. “It’s about what you saw.”
I blinked.
“The wolves.” I whispered. “They turned human.”
He smiled softly.
“Because of that, we can’t let you go.” He said and gave me a sad smile. “Tell me, is there any way you’d prefer to die? I promise to make it as painless as possible for you.”
I started hyperventilating.
“No please.” I sobbed. “I promise I won’t tell anyone.”
“We can’t risk it, sweetie.” He said. “A lot of people would be in danger if you told the humans about us.”
“Please.” I pleaded again, but I stopped when I saw him stiffen and a growl escaped his lips.
Fearing that I had angered him, I went limp and surrendered myself to my fate.
“For f*cks sake.” He muttered and turned back to me. “There is something I need to take care of. Think about what I said. If there is any way you’d prefer to die, I would like to know.”
“I’m really sorry about this, but I can’t risk my people.” He added softly before walking out and closing the door behind him.
“No please.” I screamed and pulled on the chains until my wrists started to bleed. “Let me go!”

Julian POV
I walked to my father’s office to find him sitting behind the desk. The look on his face told me that he was fuming.
“What’s up?” I said cheerfully, hoping to lighten the mood a bit.
It didn’t work.
“We need to talk.” My dad snarled. “Sit.”
I sauntered over to a chair and sat down.
“This has gone too far.” My dad said. “You can’t keep this up, Julian. I know that your mate isn’t among our pack members, but remember that she could still be among those who haven't turned eighteen yet. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard about your escapades with the girls in the pack, and I need it to stop.
“In my defense, they were all willing.” I replied and leaned forward. “If they are, who are you to stop me.”
My dad raised an eyebrow.
“The one who could choose to give the Alpha title to someone else.” He retorted. “I know that you’re an Alpha and you have your needs, but you need to learn some self control.”
I groaned.
“Are you seriously threatening to take the Alpha position away from me if I don’t stop sleeping around with the girls in the pack?”
“Yes.” My dad replied sternly and got up. “Get a grip, Julian, or I have no choice but to give the Alpha title to someone else. We can’t have a manwh*re running this pack, you need to think with your brain, and not just your d*ck.”
I snorted, but the laughter got caught in my throat when I had an idea.
“Wait.” I said. “You said that I can’t sleep with the she-wolves in the pack, right?”
My dad groaned.
“Don’t tell me you’re going to start sleeping with men instead.” He muttered.
“Um no, I’m straight.” I chuckled. “I was talking about the human I found in the woods. We’re going to kill her anyway, why can’t I take out whatever s*xual desires I have on her, and she gets to keep her life? It’s not like she can escape from here anyway.”
My dad narrowed his eyes at me.
“On two conditions.” He said and pointed a finger at me. “First, she needs to be willing. If she says no to you, you will not force her. Second, she’s the only one you’ll be sleeping with around here. If I hear another story about you defiling another she-wolf, I will kill the human and take your Alpha title for good. Do you understand me, son?”
I nodded, already feeling eager to go explore the beautiful human in the basement.
“I understand.” I said and stood up. “Are we done here?”
“Yes.” My dad replied curtly and I walked out the door.
I rolled my eyes and grumbled to myself. At 23, you’d think that my parents would stop meddling in my life. I mean, it wasn’t like I was doing something criminal.
But I was still satisfied with the compromise we’d come to. I just hoped that the little human could handle a werewolf like me.
