007 Saved Again

On this first trip exploring the woods, Zona was cautious, both not going far and not picking up too much. As the day wore on, she quickened her pace. Along the way, she followed the ribbon markers and arrived at the dead tree where she had picked the watercress and mushrooms. The rattan basket behind her was a bit heavy, strangling her thin shoulders with red marks, so she put down the basket and sat down on the dead wood to take a short break. She put down the basket and sat down on the dead wood to rest a little, thinking that she must speed up! Because the darkness is very fast, which she really did not expect. She could only look at the sun to roughly estimate the time, but just now the sunlight was abundant, but after walking for a while, it immediately darkened. Zona was ready to empty a large portion of the heavy chestnuts and store them in the hollow centers of the dead trees to lighten the load, and then come back for them tomorrow! When she got up to leave with the basket on her back again, she stiffened and settled on her body. She saw a spotted panther watching her with icy eyes, crouched behind a messy pile of trees, its posture already made and ready to strike. Zona didn't dare to breathe a sigh of relief, facing this robust leopard in front of her, the only "weapon" in her hand was a few handfuls of chestnuts with burrs. Her body tightened, and her back instantly broke out in sweat. Zona shivered and held up the rattan basket, ready to attack the leopard with this basket of burrs as her last struggle for survival when the leopard pounced on her. Unexpectedly, the leopard that was about to attack, suddenly shrank towards the back of the tree, and bared its back threateningly in Zona's direction. Zona froze, she could not believe the power of the hairy chestnut in her hand, this, so scary? But she couldn't care less and ran away when she saw the opportunity! So Zona hugged the basket and turned to run, but when she turned her head and raised her eyes, she saw a man crouching on the trunk of an extremely thick dead tree behind her! His posture like a beast, limbs on the ground, the pupils of the beast is like a ray of wolf fire, white sharp canine teeth exposed outside the lips, is a silent intimidation. Zona still has the courage to stand up to the leopard. However, when she turned around and saw Varg, who was covered in a fierce aura, she was scared out of her wits. She screamed "AH!!!" , and when she backed up, her feet got weak and she sat down on the ground, and the chestnuts in the basket fell out and rolled down on the ground. Varg also did not care about this frightened woman, he bared his teeth, spread up his strong arms, legs a force, "whoosh" towards the leopard intruded into his territory scampered over. The leopard had always been arrogant, but now that he saw Varg's power, he turned and ran. Although it was very agile, it was still pounced by Varg, and the beast and man hissed as they fought together. Zona had only seen Varg's quiet resting appearance after hunting, and even then she felt that very oppressed, not quite like a person. What's more, in front of her, the most savage and brutal physical combat was being staged! No weapons, no armor, only sharp teeth and flesh and blood. In just a moment, Varg dropped the leopard, covered in wounds and blood, onto a distant tree trunk and left it alone. His majestic chest heaved in the freezing cold, and he exhaled a breath of white air, reaching up to rub the blood that clung to the corners of his mouth as he walked towards Zona. Zona was seen sitting frozen on the ground, clutching the rattan basket, the burr clumps falling all over the floor, but with a handful of watercress clutched senselessly in her hand. She looked at the approaching Varg and subconsciously moved back, and Varg stopped dead in his tracks. He smelled fear, this woman he had picked up was afraid, as the other weaker beasts on Eastern Hill were, fearing him, intimidating him, staying away from him. So Varg turned and tried to leap into the deep forest. Zona slowed down at this point, looking at how dark it had gotten, telling herself in her mind that the man with the golden eyes had never hurt her, but instead had saved her several times. Smelling the smell of blood around her, Zona still shivered and asked, "You, you, you're not hurt. I,I have a strip of cloth to stop the bleeding.." Varg stopped his steps and jerked his head back, his eyes glowing somewhat faintly in the moonlight, and he clearly saw the petite fellow cowering in a ball, already got tears in her eyes from fear and some small snot hanging on his nose, somewhat pitiful. Then he's still holding down his inexplicably irritated heart, and raised his feet towards Zona. In the back of his mind, he could never help but refrain from tolerating this woman's pitiful expression every time she did it, thinking that it might be some sort of survival technique for her, and to some extent, it was kinda awesome. Little did Varg know, however, that this look might only work on him. After all, what beast cares if their prey is not pathetic? All they cared about was that their prey wasn't tasty. Zona walked to Zona's eyes, Varg did not say anything, one-handed lift the person to go, Zona close to see, this person is not even hurt, just may be playing hot, some sweat. Seeing that he's going to carry herself away with one hand, she was still a little panicked. She felt that if his arm pressing on her waist had used more force, she could tear herself apart! At the moment, she did not dare to resist, the chestnuts that fell on the ground she was unable to pick up, can only pick up the wicker basket with only half the contents left. After that she discreetly grabbed a corner of his shirt and let Varg carry it away one-handed like a cat. Varg walks extremely fast, sometimes with a leap of his long legs, he can easily walk more than ten meters. Unlike Zona, who had small steps and had to go around steep slopes, she also had to look for markers to recognize the way. Varg found a shortcut over a couple of steep cliffs, and in just a short while, Zona was back in the tree house after a rescue. She was a little giddy as she recalled what it had felt like to free fall from a mountain rock and be caught again. Luckily, after the man put her down, he was called away by the wolf's howl, so only herself was left under the ancient tree, Zona walked over to the earthen stove under the tree, making a small stick to poke at the hearth, and found that there was still a residual fire, and, sure enough, it was extremely right to put a large chunk of firewood in when she left in the middle of the day! At that moment, the stove was gathered with dry leaves and water was boiled. Cut off a piece of venison frozen in the tree-house, and put it in a pot to simmer, and gathered up the mushrooms and water-cress, and laid the mushrooms, which were not afraid to be boiled, in the venison soup first. Watercress doesn't keep well and has to be eaten first, so Zona just left some white mushrooms for the next meal. It didn't take long for the aroma of the broth to come out with the steam, the fresh flavor of the venison mixed with the richness of the mushrooms. She threw a few chestnuts on the stove, and after a few moments of cooking, she heard the beeping of the cooked chestnuts. When the soup was almost done, she pinched off the watercress and threw it in the stone pot, stirring it with a clean twig. The firelight from the stove was warm and melting, caressing her body and making her face look especially gentle and beautiful in the cold, dark night. This was the scene Varg saw when he returned from hunting with the wolves. He hitched the little boar to the branch of a tree, and he himself crouched on the trunk of the tree, looking at the little back reflected in the fire under the tree, half a day. Until the broth is ready, the smell wafted to Varg's nose, he carried the prey, from the tree to the ancient tree, but he did not appear, but only threw the piglet to the ground in front of Zona's eyes with a "bang". Zona was startled, only felt something falling in front of her eyes, and jumped out far away in shock, when she saw that it was a small boar, she knew that it was Golden Eyes who had come back, he had to deliver the prey every day, fortunately, otherwise she would have starved to death long ago.
