“They are almost here.” Amanda leans in and says to me. At that same time, Adam strolled casually into the room. Emily was a step behind him, although they walked hand in hand. Adams's eyes were on us as he bulldozed his way through the crowd. Emily was distracted and dragging her feet, not that Adam noticed the way her eyes were darting every which way, the same way mine had earlier. She was drinking in her new surroundings, fascinated by it all. Poor cute Adam, you clueless thing, I laugh to myself, although I'm careful not to let it show. To him, this is just the dining room where he eats everyday and has done his whole life, he isn't interested in the paintings on the wall, and he isn't surprised by the sheer amount of people piled into the one room.
