Unexpected Encounter

Chapter 4

Shawn stood beside the door, looking at the busy streets with a blank look.

Just a week ago, Zeus brought him to his family home. Zeus parents even asked them when they planned to get married.

At that time, who would expect that they would break up so soon.

Betrayed by her childhood sweetheart and cheated on with his stepsister, Shawn felt like his life become a soap opera.

Shawn thought that his stepsister can seduce all men except Zeus, but it seems it's only his wishful thinking.

Only now did he realize how truly naive he was. When the reality had slapped him hard in the face.

All of a sudden, his phone rang. And Shawn immediately picked it up when he saw its from the hospital. "Hello...."

After listening to the other line, his face turn pale. He immediately hailed a cab. He didn't even knew what happened after that.

Shawn just realized that he's already running towards the hospital. His heart beating wildly. He almost fell down the stairs, but it didn't stop him.

He's brother needed him....

Down the road, a black limited edition Rolls-Royce was park inconspicuously, the driver saw Shawn rushing towards the hospital, thought for awhile then picked up his phone and make a call.

"Chairman,"

"What's the matter?" At the other end of the line, a man's cold voice said.

"I have been following the young master as per your request Chairman. It appears something has happened to his family member and he just get out of the taxi. He doesn't look good and he's very anxious. He probably has some acquaintances in the hospital. Would you like me to check for you?"

The driver would not dare to gossip usually.

This was the first time the Chairman had asked him to follow someone. And it's not just anyone. It's a guy who slept with the Chairman last night. He never imagined the Chairman had that kind of preference but now that the Chairman was putting everything to keep him safe, he's surely had a significant importance to the Chairman.

Because before him, there's no one who had taken the Chairman's interest, be it woman or a man.

The driver's line of thought were cut short when he heard the familiar voice.

"Go over and take a look."

"Yes. Chairman." Wow. He's actually right. The Chairman was probably worried with this young man to asked him this personally.

In the Hospital's lobby along the emergency room, Shawn came in frantic and anxious. When he asked about his brother's whereabouts, a doctor told him that he's brother was still in emergency room.

After an hour of waiting in despair, the close door of the operating room finally opened.

The doctors came out one after another.

Shawn hurriedly walked over, grabbed the first doctor that come out and asked, "Doctor, how was my brother?"

The doctor took off his mask, and gently said. "The patient's vital signs have stabilized, and there's no life threat for the time being."

Shawn's tears suddenly flow out, relief filled him and finally he could breathe. "So my brother was safe now, right?"

"Yes."

"Thank you doctor! Thank you! Thank you!" He was so ecstatic, and the doctors and everyone couldn't remove their eyes from his face. He was so beautiful, and the tears falling down his pale cheeks didn't even diminished his beauty in the slightest, it even enhances his exquisite features.

When Shane woke up, Shawn was holding his hand and looking gently at his pale, frail face.

"Shane, how do you feel? Would you like the doctor to come and check on you?"

"Brother, I'm fine."

Shane's voice was a bit hoarse, and he's having trouble breathing. "You don't have to worry about me."

Shawn pursed his lips tightly.

How could he not be worried.

Shane was the only loved one he had left in this world.

Shawn still remembers, everything had been fine before. But during Shane's third year of middle school he suddenly fainted in the middle of a soccer game.

Then they discovered that he has congenital heart disease.

His condition was very dangerous, like what happened today, if he was not rescued in time he could probably die.

When Shane saw his elder brother still looking at him with worry, his pale lips curved in a slight smile. He pat his hands holding him, and pretended that he was okay, even though he's still have hard time breathing.

"I'm really fine now brother, can't you see? So stop worrying."

Tears were started gathering in Shawn's eyes and she was about to say something when the door suddenly opened and a group of doctors and nurses suddenly came in.

Shawn watched them, flabbergasted. Then he saw a familiar face among them. He's the vice president of the Hospital.

"What's—"

"Mr. Shawn Thompson, we're here to bring Mr. Shane Thompson's to his new ward."

The vice president was very polite and he's even respectful.

Shawn was surprised again. And he started to get anxious.

"New ward? Where?"

It seems like the Thompson's Family already new about his break up with Zeus. Ever since the beginning when Shane was diagnosed, their father, the Head of the Thompson's family was very reluctant in treating him.

Because for Nicholas Thompson, treating Shane's incurable disease was only a waste of money and resources.

But since he was engaged with the future heir of the Stefano's he didn't dare to make a fuss.

But now, that they had broken up, naturally, he will not accommodate his brother anymore.

This is his reality.

Shawn felt like crying. He felt so helpless and angry..

This is so unfair.

Time like this he can't help but wonder, if he and Shane was the adopted one, and Cristina was the true child.

"Mr. Shane Thompson had suffered staying in this ward. You don't have to worry Mr. Shawn we will immediately transfer him to the VIP room. And then arrange the most professional medical team to treat him."

After speaking, the Vice President commanded, "Hurry, and bring Mr. Thompson to the VIP ward."

Shawn didn't expect this outcome. What the hell is going on?

With wide and surprised eyes, he looked at the Vice President, speechless and completely bewildered.

Even Shane, who was lying weakly on the bed was puzzled. So he whispered, "Brother, what's going on?"

Shawn blink his eyes, his face blank. "I don't have any idea..."

The condition of the VIP ward was much better than an ordinary ward. Aside from the fact that it's only for one person room, it also has its own living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

And even the outside scenery is very refreshing and awe inspiring. It almost felt like you were not in an hospital but instead in a five star hotel.

"Mr. Shawn, Mr. Shane are you satisfied with the room." The vice president said, and he even bow his head respectfully. "If you have any dissatisfaction, just do tell me and we will fix it immediately."

"... No sir. We were very satisfied. Thank you!"

The Vice president looked relieved. "That's good. Then we will not disturb your rest. If you need anything, just press the service call button and someone will come to serve you soon."

After the Vice President, and the group of doctors and nurses left, Shane looked around and was surprised.

"Brother, why did they change me in a better ward. Is this brother in law's arrangement?

Shawn grew stiff, how he will explained to his brother that he and Zeus already broke up, and this arrangement.... He doubted it was done by Zeus..

But now, he's in dilemma, who was actually helping them??
