The one issue that did not trouble her father in the slightest was the idea of her travelling alone. To him it seemed as natural for her to ride up the side of the Himalayas as to walk to the village shops and, although Ellen fussed and fumed about her being un-chaperoned, the idea that she might fall a prey to lustful men never crossed her father’s mind.
