“What the hell do you mean she left?” I roared, standing from my seat, I paced the room. I was angry and hurt. My heart was breaking, and my chest felt tight, making it hard to breathe. Why would she just leave without saying goodbye?
“Nate, I know this is hard, I do, but Ayla needed to get back to the ocean. She shifted because she needed to protect her family, Ruby. Mermaids need the ocean like wolves need the forest.” He explained and I collapsed to my knees.
