“Wait” I snapped making the men stop midway.
I emptied my pockets for them revealing a pen.
“I really have no money, I wouldn’t be running home otherwise” I said in a pleading voice
The two men exchanged disappointed looks then regarded their leader inquiringly.
Originally, I wanted to make them angry by acting indifferent but then I realized afterwards that it was getting late and my mom was probably getting worried. To hasten things for them I decided to just cut to the chase and tell them the truth.
