Edward stood in the doorway, looking down at the small boy in surprise.
Carl stared at Edward, stunned.
Edward and Carl eyed each other in silence for what seemed like a lifetime.
Just then, Cosette woke up, "Carl?"
Hearing Cosette's voice, Carl no longer cared about the man in front of him and ran to the bed.
"Mommy, are you alright?"
Hearing Carl calling Cosette 'mommy,' a strange emotion crossed Edward's heart.
Edward had already guessed who the child was.
When Earl had reported back to Edward, he had also told him about Yunee's car accident.
The child was Yunee's son.
Cosette and Yunee were best friends, so Cosette was probably the child's godmother.
Cosette patted Carl on the back and said, "Mommy was just having a nightmare. I'm fine now."
