"Yes? Were you going to say something?" Edward asked.
"There is something I want to tell you, but I still can't find the words."
Cosette wanted to tell Edward about Carl, but when it came to it, she didn't know how to tell him. If Edward knew the truth, would he leave her?
Cosette felt sick just thinking about it.
Edward felt bad for Cosette. He hugged her and murmured, "No matter what it is, I will always be here for you. You can tell me when you're ready."
"Thank you. I still need a little more time." Cosette nestled in Edward's arms, feeling that the weight in her heart had lifted. She felt a lot easier.
Edward lowered his eyes and looked at Cosette, wondering what it was that she had been about to tell him.
