Ch 27

1060 Words
A lump formed in my throat as I took in the sight across from me. A few steps away stood Zayden in his human form, except for his eyes and those fangs. My eyes widened to an impossible extent. His red eyes reminded me of the time I had found out that he was my mate. His fangs peeked out as he hissed at me, and his claws were out. I forgot for a moment why I was here. Watching him standing there, partially transitioned, was a majestic sight. That man in his human form alone was huge enough, and his scarlet glare was supposed to send anyone down to their knees, except me. For me, they were working as a magical sight, luring me to him. His clothes were still on, meaning he hadn't fully transitioned. He was like the edge of a cliff; I would either fall and be consumed by him, or I would manage to save myself, but it started to seem a little too late for that. He took a step towards me, then another until my back collided with the wall opposite the door. No one was there except us, silence stretched out throughout the house, and the house help was probably in their quarters. I couldn't decide whether to be thankful for it or let fear take over me because Zayden had a look in his eyes that was incomprehensible. "Are you okay?" I managed to speak through my parched throat, but he seemed unwavering by it. His white shirt was partly opened as if he had unbuttoned half of it before stopping, muscles peeking from underneath so raw and sweaty. He didn't reply to me; instead, he kept nearing me until he was only inches away from me. I gulped nervously, not sure what he was doing. His gaze was distant, lost as he scrutinized me. Whatever was going through his head, it wasn't something simple. I had known this man forever, but watching him in this state was something entirely new to me. He had always been one of the people I had seen with the most control, even in their worst state, but it wasn't the case right now. A yelp came out of me when his fist collided with the space right beside my head. Eyes widening, I stared at him in horror. He seemed to be in pain but not at the same time. He was sweating, and his face was morphed into distress unlike any I had witnessed before. What was happening to him? Was that what Esther had meant when she said he was angry? I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, calming myself. "I have to get out of this. I have to get us out of this," I thought, running my head through possibilities and answers to what I could do to free him from whatever this was. A low growl came out of him. His scarlet eyes fixed where I was biting my lips softly, in thought. Before I could react, his face neared mine impossibly closer. Breathless growls erupted from deep within him, like a wolf slowly stalking his prey, warning him of his attack. I let go of my lips, but it was too late because his hand or more like claws came up and wrapped around my throat. My instincts told me to resist and defend, but that was the thing - there was nothing to defend myself from. His hold on my throat wasn't threatening or even hurting in the slightest of bits, but rather a possessive one. He closed in on me, using his hand to tilt my head. His nose traced over my neck, inhaling deeply. I felt a thrilling sensation take over, spreading enough for me to feel the heat between my legs. His breath fanned over my neck, taking in my scent like he was addicted to it, and if he wouldn't take it in, he would lose his sanity. A shiver went down my spine when I felt him slowly drag his fangs along the neck. He could mark me right then and there, and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it. I was at his mercy, pinned against him with my back to the wall. There was no way out except to be consumed by him and fall off the cliff I was standing on the edge of. What was worst was the effect his touch, and his breath had on me. It was sweet hell while its fire burned me with an intensity I could never get enough of. I hadn't even kissed this man yet, I was so drawn to him that it overwhelmed me while I only craved more. His lips reached the spot where a wolf marks his mate, and right when I closed my eyes, waiting for him to mark me, nothing happened. The next second, his lips came down as he placed gentle kisses there. My lips parted as I inhaled sharply. My body betrayed me when I pulled him into me, wrapping my legs around his torso. If there was any distance left between us, it was gone by now and replaced with our bodies grinding against each other. The sane side of my head told me to stop and reason with me that he wasn't in his senses, something was off about him, but the other side wanted him to take me right then and there. I couldn't believe what we were doing, but I would ask myself later. His hand clasped the nape of my neck, while he devoured my neck with kisses, pausing to lick and bite. When his tongue flicked over one of the spots along the side of my neck, a moan broke free of me. His body tensed, and he paused to look at me, his eyes still the same but now burning brighter with desire. Right when I thought of pulling away and stopping this from wherever it was going, he lifted me away from the wall. Zayden's hand came around my back holding me steady as he roughly carried me into the room. I placed my hand on his chest, to resist, but it was too late when he closed the door, pressing me against it. "We should stop," I said, pushing lightly on his chest.
