I thought it was a wicked cool name at the time, and to be completely honest, that was one of the main reasons we were friends—just so I could holler down the halls between classes, “Ka-nee-see!” It made people stop and heads turn, and kids moved out of my way as I barreled towards his locker, right next to mine.
